Kawasaki Ninja 1000 vs. Suzuki GSX1250FA vs. Yamaha FZ1 Comparison...

Our beloved FZ1 is beginning to look a little "long in the tooth" when compared to the competition :(

That article is an amazing piece of crap and is typical of how the rags always try to support new stuff over old to get people to buy.

The CB1000R has NOthing on an FZ1 --- none of these bikes do. I can't believe the guy said the FZ1 pushes coming out of a corner and never mentioned that the other bikes couldn't even get to that corner speed to see if they would push.

Comparing a ZX14 or a Bking to a FZ1 is also ridiculous. How many of those do you see doing a track day?

If you want something that will pin your ears back at a stoplight -- buy a Harley. If you want something that is a joy to ride hard and fast in or out of turns -- buy an FZ1.

CrazyJoe isn't biased or anything ;)

Well, you have an SV650. You know it's a great little cornering bike but top end is around 130mph. So --- on the straights --- you're dead.

The Bandit compared to a FZ1 or a Z1000 --- that is just ridiculous. They can't make that bike handle for any amount of money.

I can race my FZ1 and be in the middle of the pack of liter bikes so sure I'm biased.

CB1000 maybe the weakest but it is an amazing handling and suspension package stock like most Honda's are and also has great midrange. If I want to buy a naked bike I will buy a speedie or a CB1000 for the character..

I think your bias is justified, I'm just teasing. :)

I'm curious why you think the new CB1000 doesn't stack up though!

I think it's only got 108 HP --- my FZ1 has 130. What would be the logic for someone to spend 10,000 or whatever for that bike when they could buy mine every day for $3000.

The Bandit would make more sense since you can pick them up cheap but they can't be made to handle in the twisties. It's like an RC51 --- they don't have a chance against the FZ1 and some people think they are worth more --- I don't get it??

I agree with you there.

It's no comparison when a used FZ is $4000, but it's not fair to the CB to compare a 2012 bike priced at a dealer premium to something used that has been on the market since 2006.

But the FZ represents pretty killer value. What else can you get for the money that can run with it? Nothing

I just like to play devil's advocate, even if what you say is true. ;)

What makes me mad about all these articles is they seldom mention anything real world about the bikes and try to pretend that some bikes have to stay up high in the power band to have any real power. So --- where the hell else would we be with this bike. Doh. They also don't mention that we all gear down one tooth in the front which makes a world of difference in supposedly lower part of the power band. I especially love the top gear roll on charts -- I mean if you want to go somewhere and you're at 60 mph --- who doesn't downshift?

Plus, they don't mention suspension --- just like the stock FZ1 suspension is worth a shit and we all know it isn't. So, these so called comparisons go in with a bias and come out with catsup all over their face. IMHO.

I see my boy Crazy Joe hasn't lost a step! You go boy!! How the hell have you been?! I hope all is well down at the homestead buddy. It's great to see you in there pal. :D

Whatuppppp!!! Thought it was about time I stirred the pot over here. :)

Kevin and the gang are going back to the same place again this year in April. I'll prolly go. Want to see Krispy's R1. Kevin is bringing a new CB1000RR, the white one with red and blue. Purty bike. I see you got you another bike.

I saw a shot of Kevin's new bike on Facebook! It looks great. I like those RR's. Really short wheelbase and racy lookin'! You guys are gonna have some fun, just keep it on two wheels this trip buddy!

Yeah, I sold the FZ1 last year to pay off my son's tuition. It went to Gary (Pilot8127) here on the board. Then Tony found me a 97' YZF1000 in Boston and the rest is history. I just dropped off the newly rebuilt bike at Ivan's yesterday where it will be jetted and tuned. I should have it back by week's end. I can't wait to be rolling on two wheels again. It's been way too long!

Yep, thats a keeper!

If that is Kevin's -- I haven't seen the pic. I wonder how that tail bag is staying on? I have to ride super cool this trip cause my baby daughter is graduating Summa Cum Laude on May 5th -- so I have to fly up there in one piece. But, I'm never safe on a damn bike. :)

I just noticed you're from Nashville --- have we ridden together?

Yeah, thats his, straight from his page. Don't worry, you'll be okay this trip. Just install a "governor" on your throttle and set it for 60mph max! :ugh:

Nope. I wanted to ride with ya last year but couldn't make it to the dragon. I was at the dragon in 09-10 for the FZ1OA meet. After that work, graduation, baby all things have become centerstage... And now most likely will be moving out to CA in June or so will miss East TN a lot!

Well bummer.... you'll have to take up desert riding --- it's awesome unless Greenpeace has ruined it.
