Official YZF Makeover Thread

That plate holder came out really nice Billy! And the price wasn't bad either ;)

Now you just need to figure out a way to attach the rear turn signals to it and you'll be set.

Thanks T, I'm going to bring it back to him when the bike is finished and I have the rear signals. I just need him to drill two holes on each side so I can rivet an angle to it and mount the lights. It should come out nice.

Yea, that will work out well. You can just probably use a long piece with a 90 degree bend on either end and just rivet the whole thing behind the plate. Then just drill a mounting hole on each end of the 90 degree bend and be all set.

Did you decide what turn signals you're going to use for the rear?
 
Catching Up

Billy,

Just catching up as I have been away for a week. Just too busy at work with the owner away and me bringing a few new customers on line.

Nice work on both the trailer and bike. The stock signals just look right on the bike. With an older bike stock just makes one (in really nice shape) even more disirable IMO. Now you just have to start posting pictures of the bike with different scenery in the back ground. :poke:

I'm looking for some stock rear signals now but haven't found a decent set.

Well don't forget that YZF750 or YZF600 (not R6) will work as well. The lens is the same shape, just the stalk is shorter in comparison to the YZF1000. Would still match the fronts just fine. Just make sure that they are for the rear. The rears attach differently than the fronts so it's easy to tell them apart. The rears attach with a small threaded rod and a nut.
 
Last Leg Of The Journey!

Well, the YZF is at Ivan's in good hands. It will be finished before next Saturday. I can't wait to hear it once it's been rejetted and cleaned out! The Harbor Freight Trailer performed flawlessly and I recommend it to anyone looking to trailer their ride for whatever reason. No bouncing around and it tracked straight and true. The light kit worked perfectly as well. I can't wit for Monday though because the "ramp brackets" are coming from True Value and that will make loading and unloading a breeze. The 2x8 I'm using now is notched front and back but it's not enough and has too much of a "bump" when going on and off. The steel pieces will make a smooth transition on and off the ramp.

Here we are leaving this morning just before 9am.

I drilled two 3/8 holes through the ramp and deck and locked the ramp down with two bolts with wing nuts and washers. It works great!

Thanks Guys. It should be done before weeks end says Ivan. I still will have to fix one thing though. Ivan confirmed today, once it was on the lift that the tail section IS tweaked a little to one side. He said that is wasn't uncommon since it's only aluminum but it's easy to fix with a straight bar through the tail section and twist it back into shape.
 
Billy, glad to see you finally are in the home stretch and it will be ready to ride soon. This has been a long but great build and we've enjoyed the HECK out of watching this all happen. The bike is looking REALLY good! Congrats on getting her ready for running!

Thanks Eric. Today was the first time I really saw the fruits of our labor. It's different when you are looking at it in a dingey garage than when it's out in the sunshine. Hopefully I'll have some awesome pics and video for everyone next weekend! I thank everyone for all the words of encouragement for the last seven weeks. I can't believe I started the build the last week of January!
