Would someone help me?

They SORT of did... when you put the key in to lift the rear seat, there are two pegs under the rear of the seat. You put your D rings over one of those pegs with the helmet on the seat and lock the seat down.

To unlock it, you have to turn the key and while holding the turned key, push down on the rear seat to unlock it.

That's the only "lock" I have discovered. :D

Yes that works quite well actually and you can rest the helmet on the passenger seat.

Because if you have a decent helmet that's worth taking with you, you don't need a lock :poke:

Buuuut, in a pinch, the rear seat trick layed out here is quite effective.
 
The "under the seat" lock might not be as convenient as some I've seen or had, but it's also out of the way and doesn't screw up the lines of the bike. I usually just sit my helnet on my seat and hope no one thinks they need it more than I do and I live in a helmet mandatory state. Maybe I should be knocking on wood, but in forty-four years of riding I've never had a helmet stolen.
 
locks

A small pad lock from the D ring on the helmet to the triangular hook/ heel guard on the passenger peg with the helmet hanging on the passenger peg works for me, or did. Now I have hard bags that fit the helmet inside so it isn't an issue.
This was the first bike that I have owned that did not have one. Small sacrifice to make for all the great things about the bike.
 
I know this is weird, and I'm probably jinxing myself, but I never lock my helmet, and I always leave it with the bike unless away for a long time (like all day at work or something.)

I just drop the left passenger peg, and hang my helmet on it, complete with gloves inside, and usually my jacket laying on the tank.

I'm not sure why nothing has ever gotten stolen. Maybe when people see the stuff laying there so out in the open they assume I'm right "around the corner" or something so leave it alone? Dunno, but it sure makes my life easier.

That's because you Texans all wander the streets with sidearms displayed. Who WOULD steal there? :shoot: :cowboy: :jk:

Some people are fortunate to live in areas where crime just isn't an issue. Feel priviledged and enjoy that comfort. There are plenty of people who fear walking out of their own home at night all over the country.

I live in an area where it's minimal at best. I have seen others leaving their items on their bikes just as you do and they seem to never have any problems around here, but it is all about where you are at that time. I don't mind leaving items on the bike at remote places but would I do this at Hampton Beach? Nope! The people there are all tourists and foreigners, not locals that I CAN trust. The same can be said for taking the bikes to the NASCAR event here in NH. Again, a lot of folks I wouldn't trust at all! So, we don't take the bikes, we take a cage because I don't trust even leaving my stuff locked up WITH the bike and there's no room in your stadium seating to store all the gear and a helmet.

You're very lucky as is the member from Michigan.
 
Yeah, there's no way you could do that here in atlanta. Bike theft is horrible. My friend had his 2008 GSXR 1000 stolen right off his porch last week. I leave my helmet on the bike when I'm in the mountains of North GA, mainly because there's a better type of morals that people have there, than some that live in a big city. This is why crime is worse in bigger city's. More people=more crime.
 
I'm also lucky to live near good people but I have been in Charlotte NC for the last month for work. I had my truck broke into just two weeks ago so i'm a little freaked out about some A_hole stealing stuff.

We all spend a lot of hard earned money on this sport/ passion/ hobby and some people just steal things because the opportunity is there ! I would be beyond anger if I was out on a ride, and mine tend to be long, and some putz stole my helmet, jacket or both. What do you do then. Ride home without? Most criminals are lazy by nature, (or they would work for there own stuff), so a simple lock usually deters them. $700.00 for RC-1 jacket, $ 500.00 for Shoei helmet, $ $20.00 for lock, Ruining a theif's day- priceless!:eyebrow:

Hummmm...good point, I'll bring my Berreta in the thigh holster for the weekend. Glad you mentioned it Eric, that and I always forget sun screen.

Bastard touches my Shoei I'll ventilate his a$$!!!
 
Well i thought i was missing something to lock a helmet to my bike but after reading this i guess not.have tried the d hook to the passenger seat mounting hook but is a pain in the arse.next thing to try is the same as my old zx12 had,a small fine cable with two loops at each end to give a bit more room.1 up for the kwaker.
