What did you do to your FZ today?

RE: FZ1 Today

Ordered a Renthal brand, machine cut, hardened steel, 15T front sprocket today. BikeBandit.com had one for me and I got a new OEM locking tab washer from them too. Still raining here. . . . will it ever end ? heh, heh,

So I found out recently that Givi discontinued the side rack mounts for the SV650 for some reason. Searching online I was finding out that nearly everyone is completely out of stock, as is Givi.

I called up my local guy who has always found me Givi hardware for my bikes and asked him what the scoop was. He did some searching and found that this was the case. He told me he'd track one down for me and give me a rockin' price so I let him do his thing. Lo and behold, I've now got my Givi side racks mounted and I may have snagged one of the last ones in North America. He gave me a way lower price than I would have found online to boot.

Lucky me, I'm now fully cased out and this will do wonders for when I head down south next spring. No more cramming everything into a top case and having this 100lb brick on my bike. :)

RE: FZ1 Today

Here are some pics of the ol' girl, the ZG, and and the new sliders. I have the OEM 16T off the front too, as you can see. Just waiting now on the Renthal 15T to arrive, while the old oil is draining out.
I'm looking to buy a Speedo Healer if anyone has a spare one or knows of a good price on one. I can get a new one off fleabay for 115.00 or so.

Cool Gary! I'm getting closer to seeing some awesome video! One word of caution though.....Make doubly sure to use "blue loctite" on the round discs that hold the lowers on the downtubes. If you don't you will see them passing you as you ride down the road one day. Ask me how I know!:shame:
They always work themselves loose for some reason, possibly from vibration. Hit them with the "blue stuff" and never worry again. They are really hard to get so cherish them!

RE: FZ1 Today

Thanks for the blue locktite tip Billy ! I usually use the stuff regularly as my past experience with all motorcycles is the same as yours. . . .they buzz, they rumble, and they due vibrate. Some more than others of course. I too, have seen things fall off while out riding. Not fun.
I had a shift lever fall off once. I guess the thru bolt vibrated out, and then it just buzzed right off the splined shaft ! It was a 400cc 2-stroke Suzuki TM motocross bike and boy, , , did it ever shake.
It is so easy to use and it saves alot of headaches later !! Yaknow, I bet I use at least a bottle of the stuff every year. Good stuff.
: oops:

Still waiting for my Magical Racing screen. It's been over three weeks since I ordered it :waiting:

When I got mine I don't think it took that long to arrive. But they should have given you the shipping details so you can track where it is. It will be worth the wait.

Well you're a lot closer to Japan than me...maybe that's the difference :confused0024:

Its all about customs. My order took exactly two weeks.

My order hasn't even shipped yet. I emailed them this morning to get an update. All I have gotten so far is an email saying that my order has been placed. I knew it would take a while since some parts are made to order. Anxiously awaiting...:)

Put in about 350 miles. rode down to Beeville to check out the Texas Mile.

The AF1 Racing guys are at 197.2 on the blown ape. Tomorrow morning when the winds will be clam they are going for 100% juice and hopefully blow through 200 mph.

NJFZ1 sometimes these makers of specialty products, if they don't have stock, they will wait until they have enough orders to justify a production run.

When I ordered my magical racing screen I dealt with a guy called Simon, his email is [email protected]. That was in May 2010 but he may still be there, drop him a line, he was very helpful with me.

Heard back from Simon yesterday! Screen is on it's way :D

When I bought my FZ1 a month n a half ago I did not know the bike was missing the rear passenger handles, in fact I did not notice the opening in the rear plastics until I got home and started looking at pics online. Here is what she looked like:

I was able to buy a used set of silver Handles that were a bit scratched up, but fine for what I need, this is my first bike btw and I just need it to be a reliable DD not a showroom model. I had decided that I wanted to go with a flat black / silver look for the bike, so I prepped and painted the Handles and the rear plastic. Here is the progress and results:

I used a Matte clear coat to finish and protect the paint, aside from a few heavy drops that came out of the clear coat can it came out good.

Rode her!! Back a week and a half: got a pair of KurveyGirl valve stem installed, as well as a set of tank proctector (crooked I must add) lol. 3rd time wasn't a charm. essssshhhh!!

After 2 months I finally decided to give her a sponge bath.

She was clean when I brought her home and she sleeps in a garage at night so the only dirt and dust she gets is from my daily commute. Well, we had some rain this week and she had a few water spots on her, plus I wanted to pull off those nasty Yamaha emblems that were on the gas tank.

I just used some Windex and a rag to clean most of the body, seemed simple enough and meant I did not have to get wet.

I took a hair dryer to the emblems and after they warmed up a bit it was easy to peel them off. I used Windex with the towel and some elbow grease to get the sticky residue off the tank.

Here are some pics of the work.
