What did you do to your FZ today?

My FZ1 has a new big brother in the garage

Love that new super Tenere, congrats

Hello Raven, noticed in your signature that you have a 2" lowering link. Where do you bought it? Did you notice anything very different in the bikes behavior?
You just lower the rear, right?

Actually I haven't installed it yet, but plan to sometime this week. I bought the link and adjustable kickstand from Cycle One-off FZ-1 It is not a good idea to only lower the rear. From what I have read, you should lower the front anywhere from half to the same as you lower the rear... so if you lower the rear 2", lower the front 1-2". There seems to be different opinions on this, but all seem to agree that you should lower the front to some extent.

Cleaned her up and did like 80 miles of just highway driving today. Man this things getting to be a ton of fun now that Ive got some miles on her. I think I hit 1420 today!

OH and I love having the speedoDRD with a spot on speedometer its really nice!

Today I took advantage of the beautiful weather here in NY and changed the oil on the FZ1 and installed my new lowers. I am once again fully clothed thanks to DonnieBee! The upper is going to be painted shortly and after that I should have the bracket needed to mount the Yoshimura RS3 Slip-on which sounds so much better than the D&D that I am running now. Here are some pics from today as well as a comparison video of the two exhausts. I can't take the loudness of the D&D anymore. The Yosh sounds half as quiet at idle yet has that "deep" tone when you rev it up. My neighbors will once again love me!

The new lower fairings fit perfectly. Much better than my last set for some reason. I can remove this set in less than 10 minutes because of the great fit.

Here's a short video of the two exhausts (D&D and Yosh RS3).

Just a commute today with her. It was crisp this morning but just the sort of crisp that I enjoy riding in with full gear.

Den and Billy, nice work on getting those two rides back in form! They look GREAT! It's nice to know that all these mishaps are being cleaned up. Well done guys!

took my ride for a 20k maintenance check to my Yamaha dealer. Granted, I could have done it myself, but small businesses need the support...
He gave me an XJ6 as a temp bike. Nice little bike but WHAT.A.DIFFERENCE.GOING.BACK.ON.MY.FZ1. Gotta love my FZ1 even more

That's cool

A loner bike , that's an interesting concept. They NEVER do that here. Everyone lives in fear of lawyers here so a shop would never do that.

Riding something different is always a great way to appreciate your FZ when you get back on it.

The Yoshi Is Installed

I had two minor issues with the RS-3. The first was that it was actually for a Suzuki and not an FZ1. Second, I needed the "loop" or "hanger bracket" which Donnie shipped promptly. Since it was fabbed to fit the Yamaha, the pipe was actually turned outward and not parallel with the rear of the bike, by about an inch at the rear bracket. I took the pipe to work with me and brought it to a metal worker friend of mine. He measured the pipe and made a "relief cut" in the midpipe at the base of the can. He then bent it inward, closing the cut. Although the cut was only about 3/16" it actually brought the can in about 7/8" which was good enough for me. He them buffed and polished the area and I was on my way.....at no charge by the way.;)

When I got home from work I removed the D&D for what I hoped was the last time and replaced it with the RS-3. It was a perfect fit! The pipe is now perfectly parallel with the rest of the bike and looks sweet. I snapped some pics of the finished product. When I have time I will grind down the weld and re-polish. I didn't have time for him to do it today because I was on work time. I can't wait to get a run in tomorrow up to the mountain. I'll take some video so everyone can hear how it sounds now that it's buttoned down.

See how it's nice and parallel with the rest of the bike.

I just want to thank DonnieBee once more for the great deal he made me and how pleasant it was to deal with him. Thanks Bud!
