What did you do to your FZ today?

I did get my FZ1 and the little Ninja washed yesterday using

with a little help...

I even had time to wash a third bike. :) There is always a nook or cranny I notice after its all dried that isn't as clean as I want, but my hands only fit so many places without disassembly. Anyway, the bikes look way better and we had some fun doing it. It meant I didn't get to ride, but it was worth it.

BTW, anyone have or use an exhaust plug when washing? I thought about getting a rubber stopper in the right diameter, but never have.

Great Kids you got there BDazzler! Can't wait to have my own so I won't need to cut the grass, clean the cars, clean the bikes, change the oil, etc... :sinister:

I must be too OCD, since this is my first bike (that runs).

I used a (very diluted)comercial auto soap in a bucket of tepid water, then just wash with the wet rags. I have not sprayed the bike with a hose.

When I am not riding (yesterday was my 1st time after 9 days of rain) it is locked up in my garage under the bike cover the 2nd owner gave me, so it still looks washed and waxed.

Istalled my ZG Touring Screen. Will be taking my first ride in a long time on Friday. Commuting to work. After work I am dropping her of for new tires, 90 degree valves and a good once over by my shop.

I REALLY don't like the look of touring screens so it will only be on when it is most practical to have it. Like our long Pyro Tour in April.

on the gen1 a cap from a can of spray paint is a perfect fit over the end of the stock muffler. Does anyone else still actualy have a stock muffler?
 
Last week I sent the bike off to the dealership for a service and fit the PR2's... It's done and the bike will be delivered home tomorrow. Just have to fit all the GFB's when I get home in 13 days... not long now! :D
 
I was able to get a few short rides in yesterday and today. I also got to visit a new friend that was the po of a blue '09 FZ1 (now at dealership with retro kit I've referred to in another post). His name is Bob, and he traded in his FZ1 for a Raider :'(

Anyway, he and some friends are thinking of taking a trip possibly near the dragon and they invited me to go. Since I've never been and now have the perfect bike (IMO) for this, I'm really considering going.

Funny thing, even though I don't know Bob too well, he was nice enough to insist I take a ride on his Raider. Since I'd never been on one before and he insisted, I took him up on a short ride. It wasn't as bad as I thought, but it just seemed the large V-twin almost lost power as the revs got higher. Lots of torque, but not for me. I realized I wouldn't be trading my FZ1 for a Raider. (I wouldn't mind having a Warrior in the stable, but only in addition to, not in place of my FZ1) I think the Warrior and Raider have the same, or similar engines.

After I returned home (in a very pleasing, spirited manner) I put some wax on my rear wheel. It looked dull. The cleaning wax helped it out. I ran out of time for the front wheel, but it's suppose to rain the next few days, so I should have some time to hit the front wheel and all the paint.

Finally slapped on some parts I had ordered.

Convertibars:
I was kind of disappointed in these because I can't rotate them as far forward as I would like due to bar/gauge pod clearance issues, but I still like them a lot. I may play with getting a different front brake reservoir that dumps more out the side to get a couple more cm of forward travel. If anyone has experience with this, I'd appreciate any tips! Still have to trim and add bar ends, but they work for now.

TBR Vale M-5 with P1 tip (Love it! I thought I was going to want the p1-X softer tip, but the P1 is the perfect noise level for me).

PS: Ran it for a day without the tip at all and it was LOUD. Like, too loud even for me. I took an 80 mile ride and when I got off it felt like I got my bell rung by a linebacker.



Finally, in the spirit of "waste not, want not", I decided to mess with the FZ1 bars on my nighthawk, where I've always hated the stock bars. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I really like them a lot on the nighthawk (more than I ever did on the FZ). Much tighter "cafe" style position when turned down 10 or so degrees.

That looks awesome! Shame it was too loud without the tip then!
Love the blue paint too! I could be biased though :D
