VQuattro Milano Academy Motorcycle Boots Preview

Though it does not fit our tastes, it can for the younger riders.

I've even seen many of our Sr. members in just sneakers (photos) out on rides so at least it is a step up from those.

Don't buy yourself short

(bad) Form before function?! Not for this dork. ;)

All three of the boots shown are from first glance form over function. I value my feet and legs too much for that sort of footwear, even if the "style" was something I could accept, and I'm too old for that.

I was out riding yesterday and didn't stray all that far away from the city and was wearing my lightly armored street boots (full height). I felt naked wearing them compared to my usual MX boots (Alpinestar Tech 8). Other than commuting to work I rarely go riding without them.
I do remember a photo of me with my hiking boots on, getting firewood with the bike while at a campground though. If I had gone more than a few hundred yards or out of first gear it would not have happened.

I think if a rider has never gone down, they would be more inclined to buy something like the shoes in question. I have had a heavy bike land on my leg and foot (wearing the proper boot for the job) and got up without so much as a bruise. I have also been there when another rider wearing ankle high "boots" did the same thing and broke both bones in his leg. From his reaction (and that his foot was facing the wrong way) I would say it is very unpleasant. After he got his cast off and the pins and staples out he bought boots that should prevent the same from happening again. Granted we were both off-road at the time, but the level of protection, would have been just as relevant on-road.

There are so many good products out there with really good protection as well as "deals" (take Billy's boots for example) to be had. Why sell (or buy) yourself short. I will always go for form over function. I am old enough to know better and not care what someone else thinks of my style choices. I suspect I won't heal as fast as I used to and know I won't live forever (like I thought in my twenties).
