Vfr 800

VFR is just one of the bikes on my to-own list. I love the idea and concept and they look killer in red, anniv ed, and dark grey colors... However, every time I go to look for one, they are just way overpriced...

Funny how the market works, they're one of the cheaper used buys out here. Good value for money. Mileage is a big value-killer in these parts because of how little the average person rides in a season.

Where you might see a used gen 2 FZ1 for $6000, there's always a couple higher mileage VFRs for $3000 with records and nice farkles

I love my st1300 its a big v4 that reminds me of a v10 dodge pickup I had .fast mid 11 sec 1/4 mile but it runs the same all packed up with a passenger. Its not as quick as an fz but when you have it loaded up it will keep up just fine and handles great for a 750lbbeast Honda is the best at hiding there overweight bikes and that big v4 with the two bros is a sweet sound!

They are and I got lucky. Considering the luggage, steering dampener and suspension upgrades I got my 2006 for a steal.

I was seriously considering an ST1300 before I got the FZ1.

It is too long in the tooth though and falls behind all of the contemporary ST bikes ... And not to mention way overpriced. Almost 20k .. really???

Yes you are correct crazy I only paid 11,500 five years ago and its exactly the same as the current model. It eats tires ,aftermarket stuff is expensive ,but the quality is top notch.I dont think it is worth 20,000 .But on the other hand my used st was still worth more than a new connie for a couple of years .If i had my choice today i would have the new bmw 1600 with an extended warranty .

Yup, extended warranty is a wise choice on any German car or motorcycle!!

Really? Don't they make some of the most technologically advanced and reliable cars and Motorcycles available?

Sent from my GT-I9300

Advanced for sure but they are over engineered. They are not easy to work upon due to which there are big labor charges for small problems. Not to mention Engineering and Quality Control are two separate beasts. They perform great no doubt but they fail more frequently than Japs and to some extent compared to American cars too. There are hoardes of reported complains on forums. That may not be a big indicator but look at the silliness of some issues. Recalling recently, the S1000RR had a big CCT problem...

I was always told about cars: German cars are beautiful machines that truly have an indefinite lifespan provided the maintenance schedule is followed rigorously. Japanese cars are less refined and often don't have some of the nicer features or technologies offered by their German counterparts, but will last almost as long with only perfunctory maintenance. As far as I have seen so far, bikes generally do require more attention overall than cars but a similar rule applies when comparing German and Japanese manufacturers.
