Hey guys been away for a few, life has been crazy, and lets face it its snowmobile season...
Anyway been sitting around a bit the last week or so because Ive been incredibly sore (kinda depressed too).
Was driving home from a doctor appointment down a 5 lane rd passing a grocery plaza, some woman in a lexus rx 330 pulled out into my lane and destroyed both of our vehicles.
She claimed she was making a right... I hit her in the turn lane which I dodged into trying to avoid her. To me it looked like she was just driving straight out into everything.
Anyway I wasn't completely aware of how MI no fault insurance works so I didn't have all the complete coverage I needed on my truck. So I get a grand total of $1000 from her insurance. I was always under the impression you could sue the at fault driver for the damages, but MI law limits all vehicle related claims to the $1000 cap with the exception of death or serious disability. (My fault for not knowing the rules)

Anyway I don't think the frame or any of the core supports are damaged on the dodge (I know the Pics look horrid) but it looks like most of the axle components folded. I'm hoping I can tear into it and salvage it, once I find a donor rig.

Well it looks like it could have been a lot worse. Hopefully you get super lucky and the mount points are not all bent. If that is the case you should be able to take that $1000.00 and make it drivable without any issues.

I would be waiting until it warms up to crawl under the truck though unless you have a garage :p

That is a real shame as far as insurance goes. I would think that there would not be an at fault cap of 1K... that seems ridiculously low. Alabama requires a minimum of 25,000 dollars worth of liability coverage to be legal. If you total someone's 2014 BMW 7 series, guess what - you are liable for what your policy will not cover, as you should be. If you mess something up you should be liable.

I would check to see if you have the option to decline the 1k from the other parties insurance company and then sue.

Negative. Already talked to my lawyer, we know each other fairly well since I've been in and out of his house remodeling for about 3 years. Mi is no fault doesn't matter who is at fault your rig is paid for by your own insurance, provided you have the right coverage. But yeah may be able to fix her up...
