Sorry about your wreck....just move on to something else. Are you sure the crash is solely attributable to use of a dark shield....or is there more involved, speed maybe or inattention to road conditions? Just make sure that you are mentally and physically prepared for a high powered bike. I seldom ride at night anymore but even with a dark shield I don't think it would prevent me from seeing the road if the speed was correct for the night conditions.

I've done the dark shield at night, not intentionally obviously but if you are out away from the city and the only one on the road it can be very difficult to see. That being said I rode with my shield part way up so I could see.
 
I do not own anything other than clear shields so I don't know what you can see from a dark one . . . in the dark or light. I wear glasses that change to shades automatically and back to clear when the sun is gone.
