Just posting a bit about me and hopefully you follow my steps.
Started riding 4.5 years ago. Basically just rode around for a bit, did a few longer trips. Rode cross country with some friends. Did some canyon rides. Then I got out of the army and moved back to Cali.
Did some canyons out here. Mainly gmr.
Then I got a hot deal on a suit and got it altered to fit me. <$500 with alterations. I bought the suit around last april. I started to pick up more gear, GOOD boots, GOOD gloves. Finally got all my gear together and was able to get enough money to sign up for my first track day.
Do streets and big willow on the same weekend. I had fun!
A month later I do big willow again
I then get a couple of race take offs and buy some tire warmers and 3 months later I go do fontana.
I finally decide to get serious and buy a generator, a trailer and a hitch for my sonata and go do Chuckwalla for the first time.
But then I get some good advice. "If you want to go faster you have to race."
So i sign up for the New Racer School with Trackdaz.
I would recommend this to anyone in B or A group, its a ton of fun!
I then repaint my bike (spray paint) get some free body work from a person on socalmoto and do another track day at fontana.
Then I start my first race.
I am racing at chuckwalla (CVMA). I am racing light weight twins. My first weekend races didn't go that hot. I had some rear tire issues during 2 races that caused me to run off twice. I ran off another time due to me taking a turn and just butchering it. So I go home a bit angry.
So then I find out I am missing the 2nd round of CVMA, so I go race WERA in las vegas.
I figure out that my rear tire issues was because the pressure was to high on it. During the first day of racing, it was a great day. Finished 2nd in formula 2 and 1st in LWT superstock.
On the 2nd day of racing, I am in 2nd in formula 2 and got stuck behind another bike (an expert in my class). I follow him for 3 laps and plan out a pass. Well he took a different line during the turn I was going to pass him at and I hit his rear tire and go flying. (My fault, I shouldn't have been so eager to pass him, I should have waited 3 turns later when it would have been easier).
I am not angry that I crashed. I am chalking it up as a way that passing should be accomplished with more finesse and not forcing it. The bike should be cheap to fix.
I want to thank the people who helped me:
Jim(grom) for help out in the canyons, and support.
Jeff(skillzdayz) for helping me work out some issues. (throttle and braking finger thing)
Socalridersforum( Jim beemer, c weir, toons) supporting me during the mock race
girlfriend for going to each event with me and putting up with me.
People from trackdaz/cvma (dustin, morbidelli17) - for morbidelli planting he idea in my head at hooters to go racing before I even did a track day.
All the friends I have met at said track days and meeting old friends again.
So you can do it too!!!!
I posted this on my local forum and I thought you guys would enjoy it.
