I dropped my 2001 FZ1 and need new handlebars with the threads for the bar end weights.
I am having no luck finding them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the site. Hadn't noticed that the Gen 1 bars are no longer stocked by Yamaha. Looks like used or after market are the only options at this time.

Ebay had a couple used but it's sometimes difficult to tell how straight they are in pic. If you search this site there are a few threads about after market bars like Renthal, Pro-Taper, Moose etc....
Some of those are pretty close to original bars.

Good luck post up what you find and how you like them.

My bike came with aftermarket bars, so I can't really say anything other than the pullback of the stocker looks wrong.
I use the Bikemaster Superbike bar which appears to have about the same rise as the stock bar with less pullback. I like them quite a bit and I use aftermarket weighted bar ends which seem to work just fine. There are other options than threaded inserts for bar ends.

Here's a used stocker for the low, low price of $149.99.

I finally got around to swapping the bars. The OEM bar has a hole into which a tab in the throttle grip housing fits.
The new bar has no hole.
Do most of you grind off the tab or drill a hole in the new bar?
I'm not confident that I'd get the hole in the correct location and I'm not thrilled about grinding the tab off.

Thanks in advance.

Wheelman59, I grind off the plastic tab because levers in the pinned position don't fit my preferred hand position on the bars.

If you are worried about the the grip turning on the bar you can put a wrap of tape on the bar where the clamps are.

That's what I do. I have gone to the trouble of drilling the holes, but it's a pain. The tape trick works just fine.

To be clear, I just put the tape underneath the plastic housings for the turn signals and kill switch to keep them from turning. One or two wraps of electrical tape usually does it.
