Ii have trouble starting the bike. I hit the ignition button and all i get is the relay click coming from the back of the bike under the seat every time i hit the starter.
Fuses are all ok, battery ok, but only the relay click and eventually it cuts the power and the check engine process runs again.

I connected the battery to a charger and started again, but same results. the relay.

Any idea?

Thanks.

IF this is a Gen II bike......

Do you have the service manual? Do you know how to get into DIAG mode? If so, check d61 with the KILL SWITCH in the OFF/NO START position. When you hit d61, it will display any error codes and if there is more than one, it will change every two seconds. Write those down and consult the manual.

To do this, perform the following steps:

With the key in the ignition and the KILL switch in the NO START position:

  1. Press and hold both SELECT and RESET on the instrument cluster
  2. Turn the key to the ON position while still pressing the two buttons for 8 seconds. The display will change to "dl"
  3. Release the buttons then press both again for two seconds until you see "d01"
  4. Once there, use the reset button to move backward through the list or Select to move forward.
  5. Scroll to d61 and wait for 30 seconds to monitor any error codes. Write them down.
  6. To clear the codes, scroll up one to d62
  7. Put the KILL switch in the RUN position and wait 5 seconds.
  8. Put the KILL switch into the NO START position
  9. Scroll to d61 and verify the error codes are erased.

Report back with any error codes you've found and we can tell you what they are and how to test the components or if you have the service manual, you can locate them there.

At this point, does the bike start? If the same clicking happens, and the engine light comes on, go back into DIAG mode, d61 and check to see if it is the same code(s). Report back.

You say the battery is good but do you really know it's good? Put a meeter across the battery leads in the volt/DC mode, hit the starter and see what readings your get. It should be in the neighborhood of 13 volts with no load and drop to around the 12 volt mark with the starter load. If it's really dropping, say down to 10 or less, you've got a shot battery. Just because you see 12 volts with no load doesn't mean the battery is good.

Gerneral rule of thumb if you are in a extreme climate (summers get hot and winters get exetremely cold) anything lower then 10.5v when you load test it your batter is toast.

I agree with everyone else, charger would not necessarily make a difference if the battery is toast. I'd swap the battery.
