already scratched my guage cluster screen :shame:

aside from that, looks like im gonna have to use some washers.spacers to mount the N headlight because the fx-r projector i got put in my rabbit man makes just teh slightest amount of contact at the back... im thinking if i just put some washers and use longer screws where the N fairings meet the headlight i should be able to get the clearance i need.

still need to figure out where to put my ballast and all the wiring, but itll be a work in progress as its gonna be raining over the next few days up here.

will check back in with photos later

I was pretty sure you may have issues with the FX-R, it is a monster. As far as where to put the ballast, under the airbox is the best place, its where I have both of mine. I am looking forward to pics!

Yeah, I don't think it'll be too big of a problem to solve. It just barely hits right in the middle. I think I need about a centimeter more of clearance. Need to find where to get some longer screws so I can space out the fairing attachment to the headlight.

Anyone know the screw specs used? Like the threading, so I can find longer screws?

Awesome, will do today. Hopefully I'll find some grommets to use too for spacing.

Doing the test fit yesterday was sick tho, bikes gonna look great. I'm gonna plastidip part of the lens cover to black it out more, not sure if I'm gonna do the tank and all that just yet.

Also how did u mount the ballast? Did it screw in somewhere under the air box? Did u have to drill for it?

Just lay it down in there, it won't come out. It will be a snug fit. If you haven't done the airbox mod, you may have to cut some of the snorkle, but it will not come out after you put it under there, so no mounting required.

any pictures you could post of the HID as you put it in would be appreciated. i am interested in doing this myself on my bike, but am a little worried about the space.

His is a special situation as he wanted an FX-R projector in his headlight, which is much larger than the Mini H1 or Mini D2S projectors. Those should fit with no issues. Let me know when you are ready, and I can either do it for you, or hook you up with the parts to do it yourself.

I can def put some pics up as I'm installing it... Didn't take any pics of my work today but I didn't do much

I just masked and plastidipped my headlight, did three quick coats and peeled the tape and some of the edges messed up on me, I think I'm gonna remask and continue doing my layers and maybe see if I can blend it together well enough... Otherwise I might try to score the edges and peel with a hard metal edge or even use a solution to try clean it up... Took me forever to do the initial mask so I'm really hoping I don't have to start all over again.

Random question - inside the left "instrument cluster" there's plastic pieces to mount the horn, turn signals, headlight and hazard light switches.... There's also a small metal bracket, I believe it goes over the horn switch with the one slightly longer screw (and i think I remember taking it out from there)

Well, I just put the cluster back together and I couldn't figure out how to put the turn signal piece in because that bracket seemed to be in the way. I put it together without the little metal bracket for now and everything works fine and feels ok, but it's really annoying having that extra piece - any insight?

So above you can see how I doubled up on rubber grommets to space out the headlight. There's two .25 inch washers in between grommets and one between grommet and head screw. Also got one inch long #10 wood screws to account for the longer length.

I still need to check the clearance, I may need to either space it out more or use a pipe or something to extend the shaft the grommets go around coz currently the outer grommet isn't actually seated around anything. When I mount the headlight it seems pretty sturdy though.

Couldn't really get a good pic of what the clearance looks from behind buy with the fx-r ill tell ya it's pretty darn close. Again I'll update u guys when I move the handle bars and check clearance again.

Here's the headlight with the plastidip to cover the chrome removed - I'm gonna do this again later but right now I just wanna get it all installed so I can enjoy this incredible weather

Also wanted to add that the turn signals that came with the fender eliminator I bought from creese1 on eBay came with bolts that didn't fit properly in the fairing spot for turn signals so what I did was remove the flexible mounting area from the stock signals, removed the inner metal piece, and mounted these to that. Actually I really like how it turned out coz it gives the aftermarket blinkers some flexibility. Could be cleaned up better because there's an open hole behind where I mounted my blinker but all in all I'm please with it

Quick update before school/work.

I will get pictures up but i wanna go out when i have time with my actual camera coz the iphone camera just doesn' t do the bike justice :p

that - and i also have some troubleshooting remaining

the angel eye isnt working - i think i shorted the diode out during the install - i think it should be ok to wire this directly into the running light wires right? its gonna be on all the time and it just needs a 12 volt source right? does it need a fuse?

as far as the FX-R projector goes - big kudos to rabbitman. aiming was spot on and cutoff is incredible even at 50 yards. my friend driving in front of me today said it looked like a petronus. I came home baffled as to how a bike could resemble towers in malaysia only to realize he made a super nerdy reference to the Patronus Charm from harry potter lol

that said.... i wonder what animal the FZ1 would be....

lastly i was hoping someone could help me identify some screws.

the stock radiator guard has a short screw and long screw - i need a part number for the shorter screw so i can install my euro rad guard. Also need a part number for the center bolt on the engine cowl - the one that goes through the airbox into the frame.

any help on that would be appreciated.

ride safe guys.

Yes, you can wire the angel eye directly to 12V. What makes you think you shorted something? If anything, you overloaded the driver (black cylinder). That is easily replaced. If you find that you can't make it work, let me know and I can get a replacement driver for you.

I thought the black cylinder was a diode oops. I started the bike after wiring it all up and heard a crackle fizzle and smelled smoke, the black cylinder was very hot and the angel eye flickered off. It would work for a couple starts after that, I checked all my wiring and all I can think of is that the connector wasn't fully attached, but now, everything else works but the angel eye isn't turning on.

Sounds like you may have fried the driver. Can you tell me if it is long or short? They have had some issues with drivers.

Can u clarify long or short? If I were to guess I'd say long, from memory it's probably about an inch and a half long maybe 3/4 inch in diameter

Sounds like the short one. Sorry, didn't think that you didn't know the different sizes. I will call up TRS, and see what I can do. Could you shoot me your address?

EDIT, checked my PM's and got it.

Ok cool, lemme know what happens. And dude the cutoff and beam on this light are so awesome. Ill have to make a nighttime vid and show you
