Hi

I have just bought a 07 FZ1N and joined this forum. Just want to start to say this seems to be a fine place for information about the bike :)

Now to my question. The bike i bought had the speedometer swapped because of some scratches on it. I have the old speedo and I would really like to get the old readings of the milage from it. So is it possible to light it up with a 12V source and not connect it to the bike?

:welcome: and congrats! Pics when you have a chance! :D

Hellgate (Pete) will be the best help here as he has swapped ECU's on his bike. Pete, is the mileage stored in the instrument cluster, the ECU or someplace else? When you swapped ECU's, what was the effect on the mileage on the bike? I've been under the impression that the ECU stores the number displayed on the panel and don't know if that is correct or incorrect.

Anyone else? Thanks!

No, no change in mileage when the ECU is swapped out. I assume it is in the cluster.

I am of the same impression. The milage is back to zero after the instrument swap, and I would really like to have the old milage added to the new instrument.

How about just swapping the speedometer intetnals? The odometer total is stored in the speedometer unit not ECU. I have 2 speedometers and have swapped them back and forth a couple of times. One of the speedometers has a cracked case so I only swap the internal board.

On a side note, anyone know how to adjust the ambient temp reading? After removeing my battery, its off by 10-15 degrees.
No idea how to adjust that one, sorry.
But, is it really off? Reason i ask is the air temp is taken inside the airbox and for my bike, runs 5-7℃ above real ambient temps in summer and 2-5 above in winter.

The wiring diagram I have does not state which pin is what. Your best bet is just to hook it up. Yours being naked should not take that long.
