Hey all, Sevinsky again.
Just wanted to let you all know, I finally got my bike in the garage for the winter break!
Got some things I've started doing with it...
Just installed Ivan's FCE, that was a hell of a job, but to anyone looking to do it, he sends a very well laid out set of instructions in the box with it and also.

This
FCE install lots of pics in Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner Forum

topic on fazerowners forum, is INCREDIBLY helpful!
..

SO now that the FCE is in. I am waiting on getting my flies in from Eric, and then I will install Duke's "Perfection" map to my PCIII and see how it runs once the snow melts.

As for the outside, my bike was originally "raven" colored. It had gotten nicks and scratches all over it, so I decided to paint it a nice WHITE!!! color. I am no where finished with that yet, but I will definitely be posting pics when I am!

EDIT PICS ADDED!

Inside the airbox and where the tank should be located

ERIC, aha, this is what I was trying to explain to you over those messages. But everything fits and works fine with that little break, and the flies look amazing! Thanks again!

Front wheel hugger is currently getting itself painted in the background of the first image. Will be done soon and installed. The bike is nearing completion, I am currently only thinking about doing the front hugger, and if I really really am ambitious, I will paint the tail white also. This job is just so i can get a better experience at painting and so I can get it down to my college looking nice before break is over.

These parts will all be replaces with the exception of the rear hugger by the Retro kit that will be purchased in February.
So far so good though!

Nice work Dan. I got your flies yesterday in the mail and will get working on them tonight. If all goes well, I can slip them back in the mail tomorrow or Saturday. Did you try running the bike without the flies at all? What were your impressions?

What color blue are you going with? I'm a bit partial to blue... ;)

Sounds great and your bike looks fantastic! The blue is quite a bit brighter than yours, Im not looking for the best looking bike, it's just the first time I've painted a bike... Anddd it's krylon spray paint haha so it won't look magnificent.. As for the flies, i ran them an hour and a half, but it was very cold and didn't go over 100.. Ran around 50-60 the whole way..

Great looking bike! What seat is that you have? Looks like just what I need to keep from sliding back on the rear seat ever time I crack the throttle.

Thanks guys!

The seat is a Top Saddlery from France and with the Euro conversion so low, this is THE time to order! They are expensive but worth it. Tip: 34" waist or over, get the LONG option, 32" waist or under, get the Standard seat (or bargain seat if you like the pre-made selection of materials and stitching).

Dan, your flies are done and in the mail today. Should be there by the middle of next week. Merry Christmas!

BTW, on the site, they have a few bargain seats... a couple come as 186 Euros ($242.00) but when I added it to cart, it was only 158 Euros which is $205.00!!! STEAL DEAL!!! So, I spoke with Norm and ordered one in black with red stitching and piping for him. You have to pay a deposit of 60 Euros for the seat pan but you are given that back when they receive your original seats. If you order, make SURE you ship yours back ASAP because it takes a while to get them through customs and into their hands. ;)

I couldn't get the web site to pull up:shame:

Strange! I just clicked my link again and it came right up. ;) I even ordered Norm's seat from the link yesterday. Top Sellerie, sellerie moto is correct... try another browser?

Got to it on another computer. How much did it cost to send your seat back to them, if you don't mind? Also I have to decide if the silver piping would look ok on my 09. It's granite gray/raven.... I see they only have the standard seat on sale. I,m 6' tall with 34" waist, do you think it'd be okay as opposed to the "long" seat you mentioned? Sorry for all the questions, I know you don't work for them, but appreciate any help.

No problem! The standard seat will "crowd the boys" against the tank where the long option will give you a bit of room but not much.

Oldschool has the same color bike and here is that seat on his in this post. Hope this helps! http://www.998cc.org/forum/91333-post47.html

Bump

Updates and pics in first post!

Why is there a screw missing along with a piece of the shaft that holds the sub-throttle plate? Not sure how "safe" it is to run it with just one screw holding it on. You don't want it coming loose and jamming the bottom butterfly on you!

When I was removing the flies, I pressed too hard on the screw, stripped it and bent the shaft. I am hoping that the one screw will hold it in place since A) it was very hard to put it back into place, a very very tight squeeze inbetween the shaft where the fly is supposed to sit, and B) I tightened that screw tight well and put lock tight in it so it would not some loose. If it happens to, i will find so other way to make sure it stays stable inside there.

Oh that sucks. I do hope the one screw holds it in place...

Oh me too haha trust me, as long at it doesnt shift horribly it should be fine... It easily stays in place whenever the shaft turns. Soooooo as long as the rattle from the bike doesnt shift it, it should be fine.

For what happened, it looks good. You should keep your eyes on ebay and see if an intake pops up cheap. Looking at the microfiche for our bikes, I don't see that part as a stand-alone option. :( You should be OK... it might not ever move but with locktite on the one screw, it shouldn't move around. You could always drip a couple drops of locktite onto the shaft and plate where they meet and let it dry too. That will make sure it doesn't vibrate and/or rotate at all.

Since you've admitted to this, can I have your permission to post some before and after pics of your flies? I think some will get a kick out of those shots. ;)

I think I would use a little JB weld just to make sure it does not turn.. Between engine vibration and the amount of airflow traveling past it I personal would try something a little extra.

Aha, go for it, rookie mistake, bound to make many more!

Not as bad as the guy who drilled holes in his frame though! :noworries:
