I drove out to Ivan's this morning to pick up the bike. I just got back home and she's running like a top! I'm going to have a bite to eat and then head down to change the oil, clean and adjust the chain, buff out the exhaust headers, and get the lower fairings back on. Looks like a nice mountain ride for me tomorrow to celebrate her homecoming!

Anyhow, here's the specs on the valves straight from Ivan. He did a nice clean job which I love since I'm very anal about my bike. Everything was buttoned up perfectly just as I brought it to him. It's so nice not to get back your ride with grease and grime all over it.

Had I thought ahead and brought him the Engine Ice from my garage, it would have cost me about $300.00 bucks for everything. I guess it's a small price to pay for peace of mind. Now it's time to make a charge to 50K!

So judging by these numbers nothing was out? Mine is going in next Wednesday, the mechanic said at the first adjustment with these engines rarely does he see more than one out of spec. Hope you brought him some new plugs too while he was in there.
Have a great mountain ride I know I miss them as I just moved to the flat lands from BC a couple of years ago.

Yeah, everything was in spec so I'm good to go! I just changed plugs at the end of last season so those weren't changed. Going down now to change the oil and filter and get the fairing back on. Let us know how it goes with yours.

Awesome! Yamaha has the best engineering and this is one of the reasons I buy their bikes. That is great news! Ride safe tomorrow.

Congrats on the good report. Tearing around some mountain roads would be a nice celebration.
I'ts time for me to make some time for routine/preventative maintenance since I'm almost at 19K. and I caught a good break. I found my long- lost owner's manual for my FZ1. Even though these days - there are some amazing sites that help u and show u step by step how to maintain your bike, it was just nice to find the original book. :D
Congrats on the good checkup!

So --- what did he do? Why is it running better now?

He just did the Valve Inspection, nothing more. I didn't say that it was running better. It's actually running exactly the same as it was before the inspection. It was just the routine 26K Valve check that was done. The only thing that was changed was the coolant.

On a side note, how have you been Joe? Is the shoulder back to normal? Also, when are you gonna post some shots of the bike you have now?

I'm doing as good as I ever will which is fine. I haven't painted my bike yet cause I'm lazy but plan to get it done before the Arkansas ride in the "other" forum. My wife says I look like I'm deformed. :) My entire socket feels like it's full of marbles but I have full movement and good strength.

More of you guys should come to the Ark. ride. I know it's a long way but it will be a blast. I've only ridden once this year and I was fine but my legs were weak from sitting on my ass. So --- I've joined the Y again and feeling stronger working out.

Good to hear you got the bike back Billy. I'm not surprised at all that the valves were still within spec. And that reminds me I have to check the valves on my YZF1000. It just hit 28k last time we were out...
