As the tile suggests I am about to head on an almost 900 mile trip on my FZ1. I was wondering if there was anything in particular with these bikes that I should watch out for or prep in advance? Thank you guys!

Road trip from LA to Oregon on my 2002 FZ1

Just clean and lube chain, check tire pressure and keep the load you’re carrying as small as possible so you can enjoy the curves.
I’ve done that route a couple of times on other bikes that were loaded down for cross country trips. The joy came when stopping for the day at campsites, unloading the crap and getting back out there.
If there’s one spot that stands out in my memory it was camping at Portola Redwood State park and riding La Honda road and Rt. 9 around Alice’s Restaurant south of San Fran. As a flatlander from the east I had never seen such roads. There are tons of those types of roads in CA/OR.

I hope you have chosen a fun route and are not just blitzing up the 5. I did not do it on my FZ - but my buddies and I did the Saddle Sore Challenge a number of years ago from Oceanside to Grants Pass Oregon.

Just wondering if you made the trip and how it went if you did.
