Replacing Gauges or Meters

When replacing the gauges or meters on a 2008 FZ1, will the odometer reset to 0 on the new gauge? There is a 2008 FZ1 I am looking to purchase and the gauge is melted because of the Yamaha Touring Windscreen and was hoping if I replace the gauge, the mileage would stay the same to avoid complication for resale in years to come.

A new meter will register 0 miles. However, you can simply move the internals to the new meter case. I did just that and it was easy. I was lucky to get a used meter.
