I have and 08 FZ1. I first started modding with the TRC slip on and the AIS block off. The sound was great but I was still getting a little decel popping and a pop right after I would change the gears and re-apply the throttle. So I did a little digging and went to Ivan's website. The description of what his FCE did seemed to fit the issues that I was having but I was a little hesitant because most of the people on this forum were only having the problems on the 06 model. Oh well, I decided to give it a shot. And while I was in that deep, I decided to mod the airbox, install a BMC filter, install the Ivan's flies and a PCIII with Ivan's Map. What a difference! NO POPPING AT ALL! No hesitation either. Bike runs the way it should from the get go. I don't know whether it was the Power Commander or the FCE that made the Difference, or combination of both. But it did make a HUGE difference. Compliments to Ivan's Performance.

Thanks for the review :)

There are a few that will try to steer others away from the work that I have done with this bike.

It's obvious that you are happy that you didn't listen to them. :cloud9:

Yes, thanks for the review! I own an '08 as well. My guess is the most important mod you did was PCIII and IVAN's map.
I have no slip-on, no flies mod, no AIS block-off. But when I added a PCV, I noticed a pronounced difference in acceleration and throttle response. I do have a high-flow air filter but did not mod the air box, but that alone, w/o PCV made no noticable, seat of the pants difference. :sport12:

Those mods really wake up the sleeping power available in the lower RPM ranges. I'm just waiting for my chain to wear our before changing the gearing and adding a speed adjusting device for the speedo.

Kirk nailed it! I did the Ivan's flies, Ivan's map, pc3, airbox mod, k&n, FCE, and rerouted the Crankcase vent all at the same time and it has been a great result. I have a full Yosh system and this bike is awesome.

My bike is completely stock (engine/zorst) and I don't have the dollars right now for it all (PCIII, ign module & slip-on... which I'm gonna do eventually), but can I install Ivan's FCE, block the AIS and drop in a K&N filter before the slip-on goes on later (As I have the dollars for the FCE now).

You won't regret the FCE. My bike would POP just after changing gears and reapplying the throttle. Doing that mod and the AIS block off (decel popping) cured those problems completely. It's funny, some people like all that backfiring and popping. To me, it just sounds like an "Out of Tune" engine.

Is your bike standard or do you have a slip-on? I'm assuming you have a slip-on...
