Questions regarding FZ1 current Cruiser rider. (FZ6 riders please chime in)

Team Promotion offers a two up ride at the tracks the attend Glen the owner is a ex AMA pro the bike is a FZ6 with a Penske 8983 and Traxxion modified stock forks. My wife did the ride this weekend and this is what you can do with a FZ6 some suspension mods, a willing passenger and a hell of a pilot.

I very much agree. Even on the FZ6, those high RPM's turns that bike into a monster for most riders. No, not for professionals and people with a ton of riding experience under their belt with fast bikes but for most of us the FZ6 and particularly the FZ1 can turn from a chihuahua to an 800 pound Rottweiler after 8000 RPM's..

Very, very good point. I certainly overlooked that. When I'm talking bikes and power its usually with my close group of friends that are all very experienced
and ride fast bikes. The fz1 does not intimidated me at all even wide open in first. The same situation would scare the hell out of a newbie.

I still think it feels like a moped under 8000rpm :)

Most Yamaha liter bikes (modern sport bikes) always have. My first bike was an '88 FZR1000 that I geared -1/+1 and that had good mid-range, but the top-end was lacking. Then I moved to a '92 FZR1000 and that mid-range felt so lame in comparison, but when that bike hit 8k it was a different story. Had great power from 8-11k RPM :)

For the original poster I looked the following up from the search engine of the FZ6 forum. I had just come from a Honda Silver Wing, a 600cc "maxiscooter" capable of going 100 MPH and vested with 50 HP. I put 10,000 miles on that "scooter" which weighed over 500 lbs and was essentially a motorcycle with a CVT instead of gears. I took it on highways and everywhere else.

The FZ6 was a significant "jump" for this older guy and as everyone here knows I like to write about my experiences, my point of view, and my learning. Sometimes it inspires others to remember their past learning curve that they take for granted now. Sometimes it provides a starting point for others who are still very much early on in their learning curve. And, of course, the most obvious, is sometimes they're absolutely useless and just taking up bandwidth:

BTW, Johnny, that is a great video! Shows you what the capability of any Inline 4 is, even the sublime FZ6, in the hands of a professional. His lines are picture perfect!

And thats with a passenger. My wife said it was the most thrilling thing she has ever done in her life and my wife is a long time rock climber(shes climbed in Yosemite) and a avid mountain biker( has had her share of big crashes).

There is not a prayer I would get on the back of that bike, no way no how.

Yea, that's major cool! I give her credit for that. I'm not sure, I might be willing to do something like that. I'd probably have to put on a disposable adult diaper though instead of underwear.
