That steering head bearing race remover should work fine if you want to spend the money on it. However, it might be a tool that never gets used again. That's the reason I was recommending the drift instead...more uses in the future. I got an assortment of drifts/chisels from Sears.
 
I saw the shots from yesterday and my jaw is still on the floor! Thats what you call "disassembled"! You are much more adventurous than I am for sure. The bike is gonna look brand new when your finished. The headers came out bitchin'. Excellent work my friend!
 
THANKS ALL! I'm really going to be happgier in the long run.

No electrical. No rubber or any kind. The frame is bare.

I even got a no-no on the helmet lock being left on.

Needless to say, there will be some attic stock becoming available to free up so funds to finance this little excursion.

450+ tax for almost everything to be powder coated that is visible.

Frame, swingarm, side covers, center stand, side stand, passenger pegs, and wheels.

The centerstand is going to have the leg shortened about 1", what you place your foot on to place bike on the stand, to allow me the most clearance because of running my Gilles rearsets all the up and back.

I only wished I had the fork legs done as well during my recent service from Traxxion. Next year maybe.....

Dumb question, but are you equating drifts to the cold chisels?

I saw an assortment pack, but they were not that long and the diameter on the set I saw was maybe 3/16".
 
called two other shops and the best I could come up with is:

39.99 PER bearing to remove/install
25.00 to install only
39.99 to remove rubber/mount/balance per tire (other shops want 72.00/tire)

four in the swingarm
four in the wheels
two for the steering

Guess where I'll be spending my potential 250.00????

Adam, Eric found what I meant by "drift" and I got a combo pack from Sears that included several different sizes of drifts and chisels. I don't remember the exact price, but it was very reasonable.

That looks great. I used the same coating on the headers of both of my bikes and they are holding up just fine so far. Well the FZ1 is no longer using the stock ceramic coated header, but I'm still using it on the YZF1000. The FZ1 now has a ss Yosh exhaust on it again.

Yeah, I started looking at it thinking there is NO WAY I'll be able to put it all back together again. However, I took ALOT of pictures and I'm going to reassemble in the reverse order so that it'll go together as easy as it came apart.

I even found some cable routing from the previous owner that was not proper that I'll be sure to correct upon reassembly.

The only new thing that I'm going to do differently is block off the carb coolant lines.

Hopefully I'll be able to start popping bearings so that I can get ready for the final delivery on Tue/Wed of this week and let the fun begin.

Don't worry buddy. I have my service manual here as a reference in case things get sketchy.
 
Between a rock and hard place.....

A fortunate mild winter and too good of pricing to pass up, has forced me to split my life into two arenas.

I just p/u the misc tools to achieve extraction on the bearings and shall try to make a dent this evening.

The other area is the family ranch up in Northern NM.
Electric has been bumped a month up and is being extended this Wednesday.
Production is beginning on the Modular Home and slated for delivery in the middle of April.
Water line/septic/foundation starting tomorrow.

and the kick off to the madness.......

that is already there (you can see evidence of it in the distance on the road) and it even has outdoor plumbing for ya.....

My saws get to come out of retirement and go back to work.... I've got two large trees that need to be removed so the power company can run the OH power to the transformer.

FlEabay could not deliver my blind bearing pullet in time do I had to have a ship extract the needle bearings in the swingarm to keep up with the powder coaters timrline.

I did not pay attention to how the bearings sat when installed, but looking at the ones that were removed, does it matter?

I believe they are the same for both sides Adam and they are universal so they should go back in in any config. How long before the powder coating is done? This is going to be awesome!!!
 
If all goes according to plan, this Wednesday.

Getting ready to place my order for all the bearings needed.

It'll hopefully work out because ill be dealing with the ranch on Monday and Tuesday giving me the rest of the week to start putting things back together again.
