So when you get an oil test done can they determine if there is excess gas in the oil?
I was riding behind the wifes fz8 today and kept smelling burning oil, only once in a while tho. So I pulled over and checked it over and noticed it was over full. I brought it home and drained some out. It doesn't smell gassy and won't light with a lighter.
However I had to dump 1/3 of a quart out. I cant imagine putting a third if a quart too much in and just saying meh its ok I'll leave it.

It’s not a stretch that the PO over-filled the oil - people mess-up all the time. (Bought a Mustang not long ago and it was shifting badly – dropped the fluid and found gear-oil in the tranny instead of ATF…)

In fact – just recently (on this site I think) I saw a bike pictured and the oil level showed very full, and the bike was on its side-stand! (Mine looks empty on the side-stand.)

Before going for tests – keep tabs on the bike to see if its “making oil” and causing the level to increase... Good luck!

I don't think it was PO issue. Since she bought it new and I do all the maintenance.
