I just took my oil/water pump out to rebuild it for the second time as after my first rebuild there was a tiny amount of coolant finding its way into the oil. I obviously did something wrong there. I did reuse the old impeller, so that may have hurt?
Anyway, with all new parts received, I dropped it off with an actual professional mechanic for the rebuild. He discovered some scoring in the housing and on the rotors. The scoring on the housing is light, but present. Two respected mechanics looked at it and said it would probably run fine with new rotors, but I ordered a new housing to be sure. No luck; on back order.
Have any of you reinstalled a housing with light scoring? Or do you know where I can find a new one without spending heaps of cash?
I would attach pictures but the pump is still with the mechanic.
