NSW Police on the exhaust Warpath

Ian my workmate with the Yellow FZ1n got done buy the police for illegal exhaust at the top end of the Putty Rd yesterday. They were pulling in all bikes no test just give you an appointment to have it tested that will cost you $80. Apparently this is a new way to do us over as Ian saw a guy very pissed off because he had a standard system and still has to go through the BS at his cost and time off work!

That doesn't sound like revenue raising at all does it.

Not really as it will be a private testing company I think? Accredited with the EPA? Not sure if a fine will follow if you're dumb enough to turn up with a loud/non standard pipe. I'll keep you posted. Not sure if they will do gas tests either. But it seems like they are just trying to get bikes off the Putty Rd.

Is this because of the "bikey" problem down there? I was watching some Aussie TV and the biker culture there is just as bad if not worse than the US.

No I think its just take the easy target. Have a look around and see how many bikes have OEM mufflers or full systems. People complain "those noisy bikes" so the cops feel they have a mandate to do this crap, we are a minority. The biker shit is mainly drugs and confined mostly, the major trouble anyway to Western Sydney ie shootings.

What a load of bullshit. This nanny state crap really gets under my skin. The cops should be out chasing bad guys. Based on the location of the testing centres, I'll be up for a two and a half trip just to get tested if the cops pick on me. :bs2::bs2::bs2:

Man that sucks. Last year they were booking those that didn't have a decibel compliance plate on their mufflers or a plate that didn't match the decibel sticker on the bike.

That's a worry to me, I do and will continue to avoid places frequented by bikes on the weekends. My bike now with a full Yoshi, ecu flash, airbox mod and pcv I have no chance of it passing an emission test, a noise test maybe if I could get hold of a standard muffler.
What a nightmare for the people done on the weekend.

No...the NSW government is too scared of the bikies. In fact the cops even give them escorts for their big bike runs (of course to protect the good citizens!). They just crack down on normal bike riders.

They dont do that here but they do ticket here and there for loud exhaust...
Unless of course it says HD on the side, in that case you can run a straight pipe with no muffler and its ok. I dont get why they pick on certain groups. :bs2:

Beware they're still at it

Had a friend do the top end of the OPH today. Pulled over twice, talked his way out of exhaust check. He's running a standard pipe. I might give all the usual roads a miss this weekend.

Thanks for the warning Blanchy. Looks like I might have to look to ride elsewhere too this weekend.

do you know anyone with a gas analyzer? I think there is a way around the emission test with a pcV map , it depends on what they test .. co2 , nox or both and what's the maximum legal lvl.
I did passed emission tests on a de-cated car with custom map
