Once again (happened last season for a bit also) when I go to start bike (intermitent problem) it is a no go. Turn key have power, hit start button and nothing at all, clock resets and that is it. Then if I bump start it or even just turn it over with a bump it WILL start?

Happened last fall, used deelectric grease on all connections now back again. I again reapplied the deelectric grease but not making a difference. Check battery and it is 12.89 volts and under a start drops to 10.2.

What I do not get is why starter engages after the engine is bumped? Very wierd.
Thinking maybe a start problem?

Sounds like it could be the starter solenoid relay. I'm not sure how you go about checking that. Do you have a service manual? That will tell you how to test the relay. I would have said bad grounding but because the battery shows a drop when attempting to start, this means that something is drawing the power but not rolling the starter over. The Relay is the only significant device in the way of this process.

How old is your battery? Have you checked the white connector under the tank from the stator to make sure it isn't starting to fry? You might want to start carrying enough tools to pop the tank up and check voltage next time this happens away from home. Not much extra to carry and should fit under the seat.

Actually the only connection I did not check was the white connector, I will take a look today.
Battery is 2 years old.
One thing I did notice was that it seems to be happening on cold mornings (couple of degrees above or below freezing) when I am using my hand warmers.
Could be the draw when they are high combinded with 2 year old battery is too much....also a buddy said check that same white connector as they have been known to melt with hand warmers.
Thanks forgot about that one
