Nighttime ride

Hey everyone. Been a while..Been busy with work and whatnot (now i'm sick with the flu yayyy)

Anyways, I didn't put this thread in the video category of the forums because ultimately I was looking for a general discussion of mounting locations tips/ideas for gopros (or any camera of the sort) and audio recording.

I got myself a gopro about a month ago and just started having fun with it (weather has been finally nicer now)

My first night time video I made came out 'okay'. I was told it would have probably looked a lot better in 30fps instead of 60. Something about letting more light in.

But for now this is what I got. Little stand up wheelie. Some high'ish-speed back road carving. Lastly, an almost top speed run (161mph). Couldn't go faster, Felt like Gopro was going to rip my head off.

I'm very VERY excited to try new positions and angles along with messing with the camera settings (jeeze am I making a porno?? haha)

Here's my baby

Dan, I gotta say God Bless young eyes! It's literally pitch black out there. Be careful man! You don't want to find out what its like to hit a raccoon crossing the road at 160mph. I was nervous for you just watching that video. I guess I'm seriously getting old and losing my edge. Never thought it would happen but it has I'm afraid. Be careful out there at night buddy!

Yeah it is quite dark out here heh. Yeah I've had a couple close calls over the years, always a butt pucker.
Just something so serene about riding at night!
I ride these roads quite often so the familiarity of them helps. Granted yes, can't predict an animal going across the road though.

I hear the edge fades with age lol

Here's the first video I made. Very very disappointed with the handle bar mount. Way too much vibration and distorts the sound.

I feel the bodywork of the fz1 won't really allow me to use the suction cup mount effectively but that's what I want to try to use next. I feel the vibration will be absorbed by the suction cup a little bit.

I enjoy riding at night as well, especially in the summer. My night vision isn't always perfect but I do have 6 headlights at my disposal on the VFR.

Ah 6 headlights?!?! That's friggin awesome. But yes I agree, summer nights is pure bliss.

I have no speakers at work for the PC. I wanted to know if you clutched up the front wheel at 1:07 of the video??

No sir. I have yet to do a clutch up on any motorcycle I have ever owned. All throttle. I don't like the wear it puts on the clutch and especially the 'shock' it gives the transmission.

I've gotten a little better since I've taken this video. Now that I put the Arrow header on my bike, I can throttle it up at like 60mph or so in second gear and ride it out a little longer.

That's impressive, to me at least. What are you weighing if you don't mind me asking. With my fat ass, I couldn't power wheelie in any gear!

Well lucky you, I just got weighed at the doctors yesterday haha. Currently 168lbs. Prob about the same weight the video was taken.

One thing that helps me, if you notice in the video, I 'blip' the throttle. Compress the shocks and when it's coming up slam the throttle, comes right up.

Well, if I'm ever in a rambunctious mood I'll give it a shot.

From the video your lights suck....... if you don't mind my saying is that on your vfr ?
My fz1 lights the road up like a soccer stadium light lol. That's what i like about the fz1 esp since I opted for 110% brighter lights a good half mile light up or more of the road.
