New Parts On Order!

Here ya go Eric! Right from the Yamaha Service Manual......

I don't see a problem. I have a bunch of floor chisels at work.

Well, it looks as though it's going to be the weekend of May 8th and 9th for the big trip up to Eric's house and the "Busted Knuckle Garage". The weather looks crappy for this weekend and I have that function on May 1st. Let's all cross our fingers for that weekend to be a nice one! I want to get this trip in the books!

I've been watching and it's not looking to be the best up this way either. Well, if it waits, that means it will be warmer, more daylight hours and more time to wrench and ride! We'll be ready for you Billy! :D

I've committed to family on the weekend of the 1st now anyway. Going to help my sister after her surgery... she'll be out of it for several days and only has someone available for the first two days. I'll be ready to tackle anything afterward though.

I can smell the BBQ already.... ;)

Billy, this is the tool I bought for cutting...

This should more than suffice for getting the chain off the bike. Were you able to secure the tool to rivet the chain back together?

The weekend weather is looking good. Friday appears to be scattered showers from NY to NH but it is spotty at best. Hard to say what Tony may or may not run into on Friday. But, he IS on a modded FZ1 so I'm sure he'll out run any rain.

Thats a beauty Eric. Looks like a 3" wheel to me from looking at the picture. That will more than suffice. As for the other tool, I'm making the call as soon as I hit the "submit" button on this post. I'm sure that Tony will be fine. The showers supposedly will be spotty at best.

That should cut the chain w/o any trouble :D

Well guys at this point I'm still up in the air as to what day I'm going to leave. I already took Friday off from work so that part is all set. I guess I will just wait and see what the weather looks like that day around noon. If it's raining (or if if there is a strong possibility of it) I will just go up early Saturday morning with Billy instead.

Well, It's official. Ray's chain tool is broken so thats a "no go". The rivets can't be that hard to press. I am just going to bring my trusty 6" C-Clamp along with me. I'll also bring a flat mending plate from work to put in between the cup and rivet. It should work just fine. Hey Tony, thats fine with me if you decide for Saturday morning. Just let me know.

I've seen them done with a hammer before! ;)

Thats what Ray told me. He uses a nail punch and hammer with the chain laying on it's side. He said with the rear tire off the bike, there is enough slack to get the chain to lay on it's side. We'll see, I hate to be banging on a brand new chain if the clamp works. I know that either way, we will have a bunch of competent guys up there to make this an easy job!

I have an alternative plan that can work too. :D It involves a hoist and a vise. We'll make it happen! ;)

I looked at the RK and Motion Pro kits. Seems their kits are small C type clamps just with different tips to either press fit or pop the rivets. Expensive kits too! But I will end up with one.

By the next time anyone needs this work, I should have that, the bearing race puller and most (if not all) stuff to change tires. There won't be much need to pack anything outside of the parts. :D

Well as for the bearing race puller, I am leaving that with you. I won't take NO for an answer either. You will probably use it more than I. I'm not going back home with that 35lb. hunk of stuff in my backpack again! You have way more wrenching parties than I ever will. :flash:

Ok. I can deal with that. ;) It will be the forum tool as you suggested if anyone wants to use it!

BTW, is it ONLY tuna or any seafoods? :D

Thanks Eric. Just tuna is fine. I'm not much of a seafood guy. Not to mention that I have a flippin' infection in my gum on the left side that of course just started acting up again this morning. I hope my helmet fits for the ride up. Don't worry, I am fine and am going to the dentist the coming week to get it looked at. In the meantime, I'm sure there's a ton of "baby food" in the house after the birth of the baby! Either that or I will have to go with liquids only.... LOL!

Oh... that sucks! Apples! Get a lot of apples! Apples contain nutrients that make your gums stronger. You need not do anything special to take apples for gum infections. Just eat some for snacks or breakfast daily. That should help make your gum infection history. Also, gargle, mouthwash twice a day with a lukewarm saline solution. Takes down any swelling.

We have baby food, or I can puree your dinner! Wash it down with plenty of Sam's and the pain goes away!

Hope it gets better and not worse!
