Hello!

I hail from Jasper, TN, originally from Chicago. I work in Chattanooga doing electrical design.

Just bought my 2006 FZ1 yesterday with 1308 miles for $4250. Sold my 2002 GSX-R 1000 only 18 hours before buying the FZ1, haha.

I've put about 400 miles on it the last two days.

Here are some pics! http://imgur.com/a/AqCIy#m8mRi

Hi there everyone. Just picked my 2007 FZ1 up this evening. It's my second bike since getting back into riding about a year back. In the last year I've clocked up over 17,000 Ks on my Wee Strom - just about all commuting. So I've decided to try something different and been looking out for a late model FZ1 for the last 6 months or so - now I've found it. A nice low mileage example with removable factory full fairing. Once I get a rack and swap my top box over I'll be all set to go.

Unfortunately I have this new bike needing to be ridden, but I'm probably heading off to the Christchurch EQ zone to help out with restoration of essential infrastructure. I'm a civil engineer - normally specialising in landfill development.

Before getting back into riding it had been 18 long years on 4 wheels. Maximum we can ride in NZ on learners or restricted licence is 250, so the culmination of my early riding was a fantastic TZR250. Loved that bike, but I'm hoping for much more from my new baby.

Married with 3 girls and a boy aged between 2 and 9.

Welcome and how do you like it compared to the Gixxer.

Haha, WOW? This thing is about the same as far as speed but with a little more low end and I could ride it ALL DAY. I'm 315lbs so my arse is getting sore, but I'll figure a way around that.

Now that I have this, I don't know why I dealt with the uncomfortable gsxr as long as I did.

Hi

New to the forum! Located in central Arkansas, I am a the Sales/Finance manager here at a local dealer. If anyone need any kind of help with anything, let me know.

Hey all; I'm new to the site and don't currently own an FZ1 but am a former owner of 2002 model and am seriously considering purchasing an 06 to 08 when I sell my Ducati Hypermotard.

I'll try to make my story brief: I'm an ex-motocrosser who was an ex-harley rider on the street who got tired of riding ten minutes to the next bar to hang and drink for two hours and ride ten minutes to the next bar. I wanted to ride so I met up with some sport bikers (yeah, me on my Fat-Boy with assless chaps riding with sport bikers) anyway I realized I needed something different so I sold the one ton piece of chrome for an FZ1. That's when fun began and when I realized my wife had no interest on getting on the back I sold that and got a 2004 ZX10. Next thing you know I'm doing track days and racing and then I sell the ZX and get a couple GSXR 1k's. I race and ride on the street with increased hooliganizm and after a few years decide to reel in the street craziness so I get Hypermotard cuz the wife expresses an interest on hopping on the back again. We decide to simplify our lives and move to Maui to be beach bums after work so I sell the racers and keep the Hypermotard. I meet some hooligans on Maui and decide I think I would be better off with an FZ1 as an all rounder because I'm starting to get wind of problems with Ducati depenability and although I am having absolutely no problems with mine I still think an FZ1 is the better fit for my personal desires for long range comfort and short range hooliganizm at speed.

I remember my FZ1 being a solid bike so I'm thinking the newer ones are just as good and probably better but would appreciate input from you current owners.

Thanks

I have a '85 V Max and been riding with a couple guys the last 2+ years that also have sport cruisers (another VMax and a Warrior). The thing is they also have sport bikes and have been going up to the Gap for the last 7 years for a week of riding...its all flat down here in the south.
Once I got the invite I started looking for a bike...was between a ZRX...Bandit...919...or the FZ.
I made the right decision.
Bought my '02 over a year now with 8k miles and all stock, had a blast with it up north and can't wait for this year.
Braided lines, Protaper Carmichael fatbar, ASV levers, BMC filter, GYTR exhaust, -1F, +2R, R1 linkage upgrade, sargent seat. I also have a jet kit, ignition advancer, and ported boots sitting in my tool box, but can't get myself to tinkle with a good running bike.
Pics are of my Max and the 4 hondas (954, RC51, 919, 996, and speed triple 1050) I went up with last year.
Thanks for all the good info.

Hello,
I´m happy to find this forum and am impressed with its size and activity. I don´t own an FZ (yet) but am interested in researching it as a next (and last, i think) bike. I say ¨last¨ as I´m 65 years old and have been riding since I was 16, so I´m coming on to fifty years on two wheels. Currently I have a Suzuki GS650G that has served me wonderfully for twenty-two years. I have always found excellent support from the GS Resources website. Last year was the first year I found it causing reliability doubts and as I am a better rider than i am a mechanic, I´m shopping for a new main bike. The GS will always have a warm place in my garage however.

I dislike cruisers for the riding position, so the bikes I am researching are seemingly quite diverse; the FZ1 and FZ8, Honda CBF1000 and CB919, Aprilia 750 Shiver, Suzuki Bandit 1000, BMW R bikes from the early 2000´s, Kawasaki Versys, Suzuki Vstrom....etc etc. The 600-650 versions of some of these are a possibility too, as I ride single and find 70 hp adequate for my type of riding.

But the FZ is up there for sure and I am really hoping to gain some insight from this Forum. I can´t contribute with sophisticated mechanical knowledge, but in fifty years of riding, fourteen motorcycles and hundreds of thousands of miles in my logbook, and only one fall, I do know a lot about safety and am pleased to share if called upon.

Very best regards to you all.

Ted

Welcome, Ted! Like you, I don't own an FZ1 yet, but I am here to research and like what I see so far. I've been looking at a lot of the same bikes as you and the FZ1 is currently at the top of my list. I'm a 'young' 34 and look forward to gleaning from your wisdom. I hope you end up with the FZ1!

Hello everyone! My name is Cody, I live in Tulsa, ok. I'm 25 married with twins a boy, and a girl, they're 2. I own a blue 2005 fz1, fzs10. I love it! It's super fast and comfortable! Recently I went down in some sand, not fun. Wasn't too bad though, back wheel washed out but luckily i was able to control and keep it upright while braking down to about 15 mph. Cracked and scratched the upper fairing. Currently looking for a new one on eBay, I want my baby to be as beautiful as she was. Anyway, hope I get a chance to meet some other riders, and gain some knowledge on the fz1.
