Hey everyone, recently bought an 07 FZ1 and put a couple hundred miles on so far, love the bike. Comming off an 06 FZ6 (for sale if you know anyone), love the extra hp and killer looks. I'll be around, asking questions and such. Got it for $4500 with 7500 miles on her, feel it was a pretty good deal. Trying to figure out what mods I want to do, possibly drop a tooth on the front sprocket, frame sliders and who knows what else. Any Dallas members on here?

Welcome Eric and the blue is faster, I vouch for that!:D

Very nice bike, and sounds like a good deal to me. :welcome: I also have an '07, but in the faster blue ;)

Nice pipe and windshield. Gotta get the frame sliders, and I'd recomend some Fire Dragon Brother's levers, (or Pazzo's if you have the $)

Welcome Texas friend!!! I have an 07 as well, I live in Greenville! I've had mine about 2 years, and have just about every mod, done by me myself and I. :) lemme know if I can help or if you wanna RIDE! :) this is an awesome forum, I've been very helped by all these guys.

Over the Years I have found black is the color to beat. Just my opinion.

Nice bike and welcome to the site. Hope you come back to read this stuff. lol

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, got another 100 miles in today as it's over 60 degrees here today (gotta love Texas, untill July/August anyway). Love my bike, going to order some Dragon Brother's levers and some Shogun sliders just in case. Also change the oil and filter since the previous owner gave me a shoulder shrug when I asked when the last one was done. Take care all and ride safe.

Thanks Missy, lots of good riding out your way. Send me a pm if you are going for a ride sometime. I'm contemplating mods and I see you have done many, may have questions for you.

You guys haven't gone up against any Yellow bikes yet. Even in Gen 1 form, it'll rip the rubber off the wheels of your bikes.

I'm down in Seagoville, welcome to the board and nice bike. I would have been enticed by one of those for that price last year after my accident, but nobody would come that low then. I don't regret it though, love my bike. These bikes are fantastic.

Were you on a bike during the accident, what were the circumstances?
Perhaps when the weathers warms again we can organize a day ride/BBQ lunch stop somewhere?

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on a good deal on a nice bike. The pipe on there is super!

Contradictory to some of the others here, I have to say that the RETRO KIT is undoubtedly the FASTEST of all the colors! It would have to be, right? That's why they charged me so much for it.

I also have an 07 so feel free to inquire about anything. You'll find everyone here very helpful.

Stay safe!

I've heard this over and over now. I'll give you that the white and red retro kit is great looking (almost as good as the yellow and black retro kit), but since when has retro been synonymous with fast? :box:

You guys are great! Old age and experience usually defeat youth and bravado! At least that's what I tell myself.

Example A: Ever played a sport against someone older, slower, heavier, and BETTER? I've been embarassed so many times when I was a young man, particularly on the racquetball court by an old, slow, fat guy (like I am now) that just never missed a shot.

Example B: When I'm on a motoX track and kids are flying over my head on triples that I will only double and single.

More to your point, didn't we all learn when riding in the late 80's and early 90's that the radical graphics on the early GSXRs were the fastest things out there, and if we spend thousands and thousands of dollars on exhausts and jet kits that we'd all be better riders?

I spent the bucks, so it HAS to be faster, whether it's retro or not. Are you suggesting I didn't become as good as Wayne Rainey the minute I put the white/red plastics on? If I didn't, I'm sure my bike got faster as a result no matter how slow I am.

Downtown Dallas after work. Lady had to look into the sun to see if any traffic was coming, didn't see me in the binding sunlight and pulled out directly in front of me. I tried to dodge and didn't make it and clipped her rear corner. She was insured and my 50k mile bike became an 8k mile bike. No injuries to me, except for the accident hitting me in the wallet...literally. I fell on my wallet and was bruised and sore for almost two months.

New guy here north of Dallas

I am new to this site since I have been a ducati and Vmax kind of guy, but just couldn't pass up the chance to get an Fz1. I picked up a high mile, 25k blue 2001. The bike is in great shape and got it at what I think is a good price of $1800, but then I am new to this bike so don't know if that is too much for a bike with such high miles. Anyway, I am here now and hope to enjoy the bike.
I feel less inclined to over extend myself when I ride the Fz1 as oppossed to the Vmax. I was always a ducati or beemer fan but moved over to Yamaha just to see what all the noise was about and I got to say. I got rid of the beemer to get the Vmax, but kept the Ducati. Glad to be here. Look forward to the site.
