Well I picked up my new to me 2002 FZ1 yesterday and all I can say is WOWwww! I've never driven one before then and had only read the reviews posted here and other forums but they don't do it justice, these bikes are beast IMO.

Anyway I found it local and it's mainly stock with a few additions with only 17,000 actual miles on it. It has new tires, chain and just serviced with Mobile 1 oil and K&W filter the guy had all the services records. After test riding it found no issues with 2nd gear slipping or any gears for that matter. She starts fantastic on cold starts and only takes mins. to warm up. It also already had 2'' up 2'' back risers on it which was good for me because I planned on getting asset anyway..

I plan to convert it to a touring bike with taller windshield, GIVI bags and lower fairing like the silver one pictured below as well as many other goodies..

I've chatted with a few members here seeking advise when shopping for one of these bikes and I really appreciate it because I knew what to look for as well as the questions I needed to ask, without that there's no telling what I would have drug up, so thanks very much.

I also need a tag holder, the guy had converted this bike to a naked style and cut the lower off, I have a pic below of one but any other ideas would be appreciated. I also plan to remove the flush mount signals and go back to post style, so anyone wanting to swap the old post front styles for these let me know. Thanks and ride safe.

This is the tag holder or something like it I need:

Pictured below what I like to end up with including GIVI side panniers as well:

As a current owner of an 02 fz1 I would like to say congrats on your new ride! As far as the lower fairing is concerned, from personal experience, I think the stock set up works pretty well. I would suggest a jet kit from Ivan and maybe a nice after market slip on would make you love your new gen1 even more! It sounds like your new ride needs nothing more than your personal touch. Keep us updated your new mods!
