Moto Guzzi Stelvio?

So I'm curious... Why a Stelvio? What compelled you to pick this out of all the other great bikes out there? What features/options/characteristics drew you to the Guzzi?

And... Why not a Multistrada?

Amazing bike. Ill give you guys a full write up tonight when I get. I've got another 400 miles in front of me.

Dustin!

I laughed out loud! You have got it bad for that ducati! You are going to have to buy a Multistrada my friend. I am afraid that is your only cure!

816 miles today. 200 of which was pouring rain. And of course my trailer lights failed during the storm...You Texans and Okies know what I mean by rain!

This bike is SO much fun! Okay it is not, 1) fast, 2) light. But it is 1) punchy! grab the throttle and it GOES! 2) comfortable, it's like a UJM from the 80's 3) It is SO easy to ride, it just goes not fuss, no muss 4) you can see above traffic.

Dustin, for this bike I wanted a touring bike that I could take on dual track dirt roads. Before you scream...:)...consider this; 1) Oklahoma is a flat as a pancake, 2) the roads are straight for 100+ miles, 3) there is very little public off road areas. It is private property for the most part (large farms and ranches), 4) I want to take the wife with me, the pillion is really nice, 5) the OEM goodies are first rate; boxes, saddle, ergos, suspension, brakes, etc. In other words it's complete.

Is the KTM a better off road bike? YES! Is the Duc a better "tall street" bike? YES! The Yamaha just turns me off and you know how much I like Yamaha's. The bike Triumph, we don't have a dealer in oKC??? :embarrased:

More to come...

That's a great response to my question! I totally see why you would pick it over any of the others out there. It's also unique and quite cool looking with the styling and that signature Guzzi twin

Regarding Oldschool's link to the comparison...the video review is very different form the written article.

Here's what I took away...about the Stelvio

1) "The brakes aren't any good." What??? They are the same brakes as my Tuono. Those brakes are considered stellar.

2) "Least amount to power." What??? Tons of torque. Twist it and it goes!

3) Massive fuel tank...8.3 gallons. Tuono? 3.95!!!

4) Most comfortable...it really is plush

5) "Stock fueling funny." I had AF1 Racing install an Agostini pipe, and flash the ECU with the Rexxer. Oh man, butta!!! I was in heavy, heavy, downtown Austin traffic (think Manhattan) and she didn't complain at all.

AF1 developed the flash for a buddy of mine in Houston who has a 2013 Grisso, same motor. He as bitching and complaining. Once AF1 and Micah got done with the bike my buddy was shocked. The bike was perfect. We used the same flash.

I figured, "Just do it now."

6) Off road.."Gobbs of torque, easy clutch operation makes riding this big, heavy bike easier than we thought." Seriously, as much as I dream of pulling a can-can, I never will. I'll put my son on the back and we'll got to the back of the ranch to go shooting. This isn't Canada...

7) Road "The Guzzi a feeling that it is more Sports-Touring oriented than it is Adventure-Touring. It's seat is comfy and supportive for long rides, and the wind screen does a decent job of defecting wind." Perfect, sign me up! :cloud9:

Why not the Duc? I love Ducs, I've never owned one, but I know I don't want a tall street bike with 17" wheels. I really wanted a diameter that I could put some meat on if I decide to.

Given the pancake flat terrain I have to ride, the Stelvio works for me. And the boys at AF1 Racing totally hooked me up (cost on everything). I even got Hut's burger for lunch! :D

Photos and video to follow.
