If they were truly effective and/or necessary wouldn't the manufacturers order drain bolts with this simple change? Since none do (that I am aware of) it would seem it is not necessary. As the review said, how often do we really hear of an engine failure due to the oil? Since we don't hear of such things I don't think this kind of plug does a damn thing. It won't hurt, but neither will putting deer whistles on your ride.
I have one on my bike and they do work! Plus when I change my oil it gives me a piece of mind knowing all is good and clean within the engine! Plus they cost under 10.00 on ebay, at least that is what I paid!
