I just read a litle blurb in Sport Rider about a guy in California that has had 4 R1's. His 99 went 288,000 miles, 160,000 before his first shim adjustment, 19 chains, 63 front tires, 70 rear tires and $1800 worth of oil. Said he maintained it by the book. That's pretty impressive and says a lot about maintaining your bike according to the manufactures specs. It didn't say anything about modifications but if you are interested his name is in the mag. It's the September issue of Sport Rider.

Thats amazing. God Bless him. I hope to get half the mileage that he got and I'll be happy. CanonFuji is up there with his FZ1 just about touching 90,000 miles on the odometer.

Wow that is amazing! You hear about guys raking up the miles on the sport touring bikes, but on a pure sports bike like an R1 that is unheard of.
