Long distance two up hauling

I think I am just going to get the Shad top mount case and bracket, and then make my own frame for my current saddle bags and have those welded to the Shad brackets. That way it all goes on and comes off as one unit.

The Nelson Riggs bags really are nice bags, I just got to make sure they stay put! Won't be hard with proper support.

I am leaning towards this case.

Shad SH-45 Top Case

Same case but a little cheaper... ;)

Shad Top Cases from Yamaha Accessories & Apparel

The 40L is only $127 and change too.

Thanks for trying to save me some cash Eric! Much appreciated. Now when I come up there this year I will be able to properly pack up for it!

Yamaha 45L Top Case by SHAD products and accessories for sale in Osage Beach, MO

That is the one I am getting. Hunted around all last night for prices, and remembered buying stuff from them before. They are SUPER cheap.

I can get the mounting system, that bag, and the backrest for 299.94 to my door. I find that acceptable for a quality bag. Shad produces all the luggage for BMW so I feel if its good enough for them its good enough for me.

Ordering tonight.

Shad is great stuff. I like Givi too but I always feel like it's paying more for a name. I knew they made the BMW cases and I think they also make a couple other companies OEM cases as well. Excellent stuff! Kudos Papa!

Well I ordered up the Shad Mount, SH45 Case, and Backrest for the case. Will post pics in my build thread as things get done.

I am going to fab up some brackets to weld onto the Shad brackets similar to those ones Givi makes that support the soft bags. That way I can kill two birds with one stone and have the shad mounting setup supporting my Nelson Riggs bags and the SH45 top case.

Those 3 things alone will be 83 liters of capacity. That is a good amount of room!

Did you look at the bent aluminum easy-to-do ones? No welding, just drill, bolt and then bend into position. They will hold a lot! You can then plasti-dip them with several coats and they will blend into the bike. Good stuff!!!

Yeah I saw those but that is spacing out my passenger footpegs more and more lol. I already have the Penske mount on the left one, then I will have the Shad mounts under there as well.

I will see though when everything comes in and I can mess with it. Going to make something work thats for sure!

forget all the other advice I have the solution leave her at home have another woman waiting at your destination problem solved,I think OK maybe not

One thing you could do with the home-made bent brackets? Put longer bolts on the bike to sandwich the other pieces but enough to protrude through the back to put the saddle brackets and a lock nut on the other side. This way, it's not spacing out the brackets any further. ;)
