Kill Switch

This may have come up before but since im a noob, bare with me ;)

So with my first bike (Honda VTR 250) i used to always flip the kill switch when I was stuck in traffic.
(This way the lights stay on and the cars behind me dont freak out)

Living in Japan im stuck in traffic a lot! and killing the engine saves gas and the rain forrests :)

My question is: Is it actually ok to do this with the FZ1?

Does using the kill switch mess with the bike in anyway?

If I do it i will be doing it A LOT, so I want to ask before i start doing it.
(just got my bike)

Personally I'd just leave the engine running but that's just me!
There's no reason why it should cause any problems with the bike.

Out of interest, are you not allowed to filter through traffic in Japan like you can here in the UK?

You mean pass by cars while they stop at the lights?

Yes you can, but it might be frowned upon by the popo :D

If i turn off the bike its always at the front of the line ;)

In Japan, especially in Yokohama and Tokyo you sometimes spend several minutes at the lights.

By turning the engine off you can save a lot of gas.

Kind of like a Prius hybrid.

I just took the ERC today and they are having us use the kill switch for shut down, then turn off the ignition. I can remember doing that in the BRC maybe we did. Either way the switch is made to be used as often as you want even though the manual will tell you to use for emergency shut downs.(thats what is was intended for I guess)
