I got my mirror block-off plates from JDA Customs. Had to wait about 6 weeks for them to come in, so I ended up fabricating a set to "get by" for a while. When the new ones arrived, I put them on, and can't say that I'm thrilled with the fit. They're marked L and R (which I assume is left and right from the rider's perspective), but when I put them on as indicated, they look twisted to me. I reversed them and they look a little better.

For comparison, I'm including an image of the plates I made.

I'm not sure whether I'm going to go with the JDA Customs (reversed), or just get some black bolts for the pair I fabricated for myself. Opinions welcome.

@johnnyontherocks: Ok. Maybe a bad batch or something? I sent a note to JDA, but they're notoriously slow in responding. We'll see if they can do anything for me.

@T84A: No, they were about 10x what I have invested in the ones I made myself.

I sent a note with pictures to JDA Custom yesterday. Sadly, there was no response. On the up-side, I managed to sell my old bike ('03 Honda Shadow), so now I'm looking at mods for the FZ1. :woot:

I just got mine in from JDA a week or so ago, and I did notice they're a little off-center (but they don't seem to be as bad as yours). Frankly, I didn't notice they were labeled as left and right, so I may have to swap them and see if that's any better.

I hope you get them straightened out, OP. BTW, I actually like the ones you made better!

instead of "block off plates" can a new "stock" fairing be bought with NO mirror holes to cover up?? :deadhorse:

.

Part numbers match the order page, and are stamped on the back of the plates, so I think that the parts were correctly ordered and fulfilled. I've tried emailing JDA and gotten an error reaching their email server. I called yesterday and left a message and have yet to get any sort of response.

I'm afraid I may have wasted 50 bucks.

I'm beginning to regret recommending them to you. Sorry :(

The parts look good off the bike. No worries about the recommendation. Past performance is no indication of future... etc.

Another update. I received an email from JDA yesterday and responded again. Not sure if it will go through this time or not. I called this morning to see if they had received it, but the phone number has been "temporarily disconnected." I'm considering requesting a chargeback on my credit card (never done this before).

For now, I would suggest that anyone considering using JDA Custom should think twice.

(Hopefully) A final update.

I finally was able to have an email exchange with JDA. They agreed to accept the return, so I'll be dropping it in the mail. Once I was able to get in touch with them, they were courteous and had no problem accepting the return.

I'm a little disappointed that they didn't comment on whether the fit on my bike was "right" or not. I really do like the look of the plates and would have been happy with an exchange for a better-fitting part.
