That people on other forums think your a Bleeping Idiot because you are new on a forum.

I posted on the Gixxer forum explaining I got the bike etc an I was replacing the chain etc, but nope. YOUR CHAIN HAS RUST YOU MUST REPLACE NOW. BIKE WAS CRASHED---REPAINTED = CRASHED. I guess people never change the looks of their toys?

I'm so sick of reading crap like this. Then I get the same ass-hat telling me the FZ1 is slow in comparison to the 600 Gixxer, and that the V twin engine in the FZ is no match..

I just lol'd while posting up dyno sheets form Ivans site.

Just kinda had to vent a little bit, It seems that this bike is just a 20 year olds wet dream and that's what the forums are full of. Literal squids who have no experience. That's what I liked about this forum is everyone seems to have previous bike experience.

Ugh.

Yea, I agree with you. I'm sure those forums are full of 20 year old squids  That's what's nice about being here...we're all a little more mature :D

I agree, this is the most helpful and mature automotive/motorcycle forum I have been a member of. You are too mature for a squidly bike like the gixxer, yet another reason to sell it and put the money into the FZ1 :D

LOL

I plan on actually keeping it, I really like it. Dont worry though, the FZ1 will still be loved. Still doing the same plans I was talking about over the winter.

Welcome to the world of sportbikes. I have personally never met a bigger group of brainless morons than the sportbike community and I have a feeling I never will.

I don't know what it is about the bikes that makes one turn into a flaming douchebag; but maybe it's the colourful leathers and matching helmet?

I've been doing the same tap dance in some F-350 forums because I do not know BOO about the myriad of goodies this vehicle actually entails.

I've found some good eggs, who are very knowledable and offer sound advice without treating you like an idiot -- a FEW and not many -- even an older crowd...

I hear ya. It sux to deal with.

Want a bit of info to one up the kids over at GSXR nation.

Gixxer is not a word.

Funny thing is over time the letters GSXR was giving a pronunciation "Jixxer"

"JIXXER" was to be the sound GSXR made. Then some asshat thought the prununciation needed a spelling for the Sound "Jixxer" when all along it had a spelling GSXR. So to "say" Jixxer is from the spelling GSXR.

It has been misspelled for a long time as well with a G but we dont need to get into that.

Please this is Just my two cents.
I actually ride a veemax. or should I say a vmsevteenhundo.
My point is why make a new word to abreviate and it ends up longer than the original? Vmax

I like your new bike and when I get old and decide to slow down I might get one too.

If I could have any two bikes in the world, I would want my FZ1 and a 2009-2010 V-Max.

However, I cannot afford that big beast :(

Just like most other forums, you have to wade through miles of sh*t to find a few gems. That is something these forums created by Dennis has SWORN to never resort to. That is why they are International and moderators in most time zones. We scoop out the crap and leave the gems. :D

You honestly have to ignore them and simply search for the answers within. I do that on the other FZ1 site. There is still a fair amount more technical knowledge there than here but it's not worth posing a question about it if you cannot find it. The ridicule, meaningless posts and useless drivel can very very painful to wade through. Eventually, you find the gem and quietly leave with it.

You're venting is actually great to hear because I know the team here is doing their jobs well!

Pretty funny, I'm not surprised really.

For my R6 I haven't bothered with the many R6 boards out there. I figure I'm better off on the WERA or AF1 Racing boards if I have a question. There many smart people there, and very few morons as the smart people run them off. Where as the R6 boards have lots of morons and the smart people gave up a long time ago!

Well put...........

In addition to the wealth of great information on this board ... and the character of the folks there in ... I am also impressed at how well people from all over the world are represented here. It's been really great mixing it up with chaps from across the globe

I'd say it's pretty good here in that no one tries to bait you into a flaming contest, or set's you up to look stupid. It's a bit small here it seems, but then again it's good because it's far from played out.... there are forums were dudes have an average of almost 5k posts per year, and they will post JUST to be a d!ck to someone, especially a "newb" (thereby keeping their forum cred' up...aka the biggest E- p#ni5). The only place I dig besides this one is riderforums, mainly because the insecurity wars are kept to a reasonable minimum. Alot of other forums have the following hierarchy: Know-it-all egomaniacs, bored sarcastic jerks that want to do little more than increase their post-counts, and the silly little cheerleaders for the aformentioned characters. FZ1-Forum rules. Enjoy life, post here :D

Sad but so very true.

Good for them for having gear. Around here they wear a t-shirt, flip flops, shorts, and sunglasses. I support their choice to wear no gear, gene pool cleansing:D

I'm sorry guys, but I take great offense to this post. Perhaps some of the sportbike riders you've met are off in the head, riding wheelies on interstates and intentionally smashing their tanks to do stunts. Those are the morons I think you're speaking of.

Personally, having over 30 years experience I find that I've run the gamut from off-road, MX, Hare Scrambles-Enduros, back to sportbikes, then all the way to BMWs and the K1200LT-C, back to the MV Agusta, a couple of Honda Pacific Coast 800s, 2 FJR1300s, etc. I'm sure we all have a long list of bikes we've owned.

Guys on sportbikes with sneakers, flip-flops, and T-Shirts on Hyabusas make me sick. Guys weariing full leathers while riding aggressively through Deal's Gap and the Cherohala Skyway only make sense.

I'be been a douchebag (sometimes still am), and I've been a tourer (sometimes still am). Either way, I find this forum as well as the MVAgusta site to contain similar entities - older, experienced riders without a lack of professionalism or power so there's no need to exemplify their all-knowing, all-powerful 21 year old perspective from the bench at Mickey D's.

I don't know anyone who would say they never pulled a douchebag move while riding - an FZ1, a CBR, whatever.

If I had to stereotype, I'd say in my experience it's the Stunters that make me sick. I'm kind of a purist, and for someone to completely disrespect their equipment, ride a rat bike around and pretend they've mastered the sport makes me sick. My typical answer to some newbie squid on a sportbike asking "how far can I ride a wheelie" has always been the same, and that answer will remain "I don't know, it's never factored into any of my lap times."

Being someone who appreciates just about every facet of riding (except of course the wonderful world of Harleys), I would hope the mere intelligence of the people on this forum understand we've all matured and mellowed with age. I would bet for sure I'm not the only one with a bright colored one-piece race suit and day-glow Sidi Vertigo Corsas in the closet for when it's appropriate.

In closing, I will say I don't even bother with the other boards such as the R1 and R6 forums. There simply is no point as there doesn't usually seem to be anything constructive there. Mostly people bashing each other's prices for bikes and making statements like the one Geno noted about an FZ1 being slower than a GSXR 600. In the words of a famous doctor I once knew, "An alligator is an alligator. Why are you surprised when it bites you?"

Geno, love and enjoy your new ride! I'm happy to hear how excited you are about your new toy. It's a great feeling, whether a new 2010 VMax or a used GSXR600.

Be well, and be safe.

I'm with Brian on this one..

Going full leathers and pushing at the Gap / Skyway makes plenty of sense to me too. Been there and done it, I've argued this point with some people, but it seems to be those that are scarred to test their limits a bit that put up the biggest stink. It's about using your head but going for it at the same time. The Dragon was made for Draggin'...

Stunters... yeah I can't stand it either. These cats grenade their motors all the time, then I hear about all the 600's that get stolen, makes me wonder... at least that was the case back home in Florida (squid-land). All the helmet-mohawks, spikes, ect. Ughh...
