My bike is going in this week for an valve adjustment (had to wait for a valve cover gasket to come in), well see how far out it was. I was going to attempt it myself but have a Yamaha dealership mechanic that works out of his home also so figured rather than taking 8 to 10 hours doing it and maybe screwing it up let him play with it for 3 hours and done right. Now if I had a Ducati then I would have no choice but to learn as I have read adjustments are every 8,000 miles.

It's funny you say that because I took my bike over to Ivan's just yesterday for the same thing. I should have it back by Wednesday. I just reached 30K on the 01' and figured not to tempt fate. I also didn't want to tackle it myself alone. One screwup and I'd be out of commission for a while, not to mention I'd then have to get the bike trailered over there as well. So I'm leaving this up to the professionals. I'll let you know how it goes come Wednesday.
