That must be a Gen 2 thing. I ran without a instrument cluster for almost a week when I was doing the Multi-Gauge Install.

Yep I think so. Could not work out why the FZ1N I was working on would not start. Plugged the instrument in and bingo! Fired straight up.

I've run my gen 2 with the gauges off.

Might have something to do with the ignition immobilizer fitted to non-US bikes...
