I Know This Will Shock Some But...........

Well, I just got off the phone with a NYPD Detective. He's meeting me here on Sunday afternoon. No, nothing wrong, just subletting the garage for the winter months. I might as well get half the rent money now that it's empty. Unfortunately......it's going to home to a.....a...........a.......Oh God! A Harley Davidson!!!:jaw drop: Oh well, at least he doesn't have to worry about anyone breaking in to steal it! Hahaha!!! It will be out in April just in time for me to hopefully be bringing in my new wheels!

Just be sure to put down lots of straw for the HOG (to soak up the oil). Maybe an air freshener or two to keep the smell down. :laugh2:

lolup Good one Lee. He actually showed up today with the bike and locked it up in the garage. I think it's an 04' but not sure which model. Typical Harley though, all chromed out, Cobra pipes with no baffles, you get the idea. I'll bring the camera down with me tomorrow and snap a photo or two. I'll post them in high resolution in case anyone here wants to copy them, enlarge them to 12x18, and make some nice "Dart Boards" for their man caves!

From the pictures of your garage, it looks bigger than my first apartment. I know my current garage is bigger than my first house (and better insulated to).

Thanks Lee! I got home a short time ago and went into the garage to get a better look at this bike. Well, I'm looking around it and can't find any badges as to what model or anything. Then I start thinking about those pipes again. I have never seen Cobra pipes on a Hog before, only Vance and Hines. Anyway, I move around to the left side and look down at the frame and was shocked to see "Suzuki Motor Corp" on the sticker!!!! I think I have a bonafied "Poser" in my midst! It winds up being a 2004 Suzuki Intruder Volusia, not a Harley Davidson! I forgot my camera but found the exact bike, only with badging on it. So rest easy guys, it's a metric cruiser!

Well, I'm happy to say that I just got home from work today! I say that because today is Wednesday which is the day I lost over a year ago. I was notified on the 31st of Dec. that I would be getting my lost day of work back starting today! Aside from that, my Sciatica has finally subsided and today was also the first day without any pain. Mix all that with the fact that the W-2's should be here any time now and that makes me a happy camper! I'm now going to "bank" the extra day each week through Spring so that I may not need to even touch the dough from Uncle Sam to get me back on two wheels! It's time to start cruising Craigslist and Classifieds to see what I'll be riding next. With all of life's pitfalls, I really relish these moments cause they may not last too long before the next obstacle gets in the way!:tup:
 
Thanks Patrice. I'm gonna take my time and make sure I have all the money "in hand" first so I don't get ahead of myself. I'm also going to concentrate on a "local" buy, NY/NJ area where I don't have to make a road trip out of it. So far there has been some decent sales in my area, I just hope their available when the time comes. I'm still not set on what I want, a GenI or GenII. I've seen some really nice GenI's for sale as of late with low miles and great condition. The other side of the coin is "fuel injection", which really pulls me the other direction. Now that I have had the opportunity to ride both generations, it makes the choosing all that much harder to do.
 
I don't envy you one bit. Cruzman and I were discussing what other bike we'd get during our last ride. For me, my Gen1 is about perfect. I love the power and the handling--esp with the suspensions upgrades I put on at the end of last year. I love it's versatility and reliability.

I think to replace it, I'd want a bike that's the gen1 plus all the new tech like FI, ABS, Traction Control, and anything else I haven't mentioned but the new bikes have. OTOH, I'm not wanting to do some of the things I've done to my bike to personalize it for me. I guess that just means I'm not done with my gen1 yet. There's nothing out there now that even turns my head. When I think about the gen2, I don't think it's that much of an improvement over the gen1. Maybe my expectations are too high but I expect leaps and bounds not baby steps for my next ride.

I'll keep rooting for you and hoping you can find what you want and be as happy with it as I am with my bike.
 
Billy, it is so great to hear that things are turning around for you and all for the better! After all, 2011 Dad of the Year SHOULD catch some breaks! ;)

I'm biased but I think you should work on a Gen II. You can do a lot to it for little money and if you buy the right bike, most of it will already be done. There are a lot of deals and there will be more when you are ready. Hey, even if you have to travel some... you have a hitch on the car and can get the trailer cheap enough!

I hope that everything continues to improve for you and you are back on two before summer. I'd like to ride with you and Tony again!

Thanks buddy! Just getting back my extra day was wonderful news. Thanks for the honors of Dad Of The Year. I would love to think though that any dad out there would have done the same for their child's sake. I hear what your saying about the GenII. I do believe your right. If I can find something thats set up with some "goodies" already I'd be good to go. The one thing I came away from with riding both Brian's and also Johnny's is the throttle response and quicker handling than the GenI. The power is seamless and smooth which is fantastic and steering was neutral and easy to flick into the corners. I would probably have to go with a new saddle though as I don't see myself making real long rides on the stock pad. I know that my boy Tony has a great nose for deals, so when the time comes I'll have him sniffing out some bargains for me.

Well, I have been contacted by the guy twice more since but nothing ever came out of it. He knew, once talking with me, that I was more interested in a total "makeover" and not interested in spending any money, which was not the actual premise of the show. It was more about showcasing this wholesaler here in the Bronx and being able to get parts cheaper than retail. They were offering the labor for free but hinted that the parts would be way less than retail. I told him that I had applied to both Search and Restore and Overhaulin for the simple reason to have the car redone completely and not so much to change a part here and there and have to pay for it to boot. So needless to say he hasn't called back, however, he did like the idea and my story, and had said that he would suggest it to the producers to see if they may change things around a bit. So, long story short, I'm still waiting and applying to other shows. Hey, you never know!
