2007 FZ1 - my left mirrow is loose at the base from the previous owner dropping it or something. How do I tighten up the mirrow at the base? Do I need to take off plastic and tighten it from underneath?

You will need to remove the left inner fairing piece. Then look for the two nuts fixed to the mirror studs from the bottom.

The mirror mounts with 2 studs. Chances are the pivot is worn. I tried to tighten the pivot, but ended up buying a new mirror. The Emgo brand makes an exact replacement at half the cost of stock.

As above ,the pivot wears , I took the mirror off and removed the cap covering the top of the pivot. Then you can get two small sockets and rig it in a vice (one socket either side of the pivot) and press it a bit tighter . Did mine some time ago now and its still tight + I fold them as well on a regular basis

Reviving it from dead, this topic.

Had the same issue, it wouldn't "snap" into the correct position, because of extensive corrosion. That resulted in floppy mirrors / vibrations, rendering the rear view unusable...

EMGO replacemens for *drumroll* 26euro's each... not worth the hassle....
