I'm a new member so I just want to say hello.
I'm a Scot living in Brussels Belgium and I have a black FZ1N 07, which I bought two months ago. I think its a fantastic bike, looks great and goes like stink.
Before the FZ1 I had a BT1100 Bulldog.

Welcome to the board! I'm sure the requests for pics will come very soon. :)

I've had both the Gen 1 and now the Gen 2 FZ1s, since 2005, and I love them! I put 50K miles on the first one and traded it for the 2012. I wish I had kept both, though! Great bikes, and pretty much bullet-proof.

One issue that you do need to check out is the generator rotor. The original rotor had exposed magnets that were glued on the inside of the rotor, and over time the glue breaks down, and magnets fall into the stator... and pieces can get into the bottom end. The new rotor has the magnets encapsulated so that issue can't happen. It takes 30 minutes to replace... If you KNOW it's been replaced, your good. If not, it should be verified / replaced. Lots of info on this site!

Welcome! Where are the pics? LOL!

I've had my 2009 since it was new and absolutely love it. You chose a good one.

As Blue Flash mentioned, you should check the rotor. Also, if I remember correctly, that is one of the years where the frame may crack. So, keep an eye on that.

Amazing bike there, that BT1100. I never heard of it, had to look it up and WOW what a nice machine. Yamaha makes a lot of cool bikes that they don't sell here, that being one of them. I'm still dreaming of finding amd owning a MT-01.

But as much as I love the sound of the big v-twins, I prefer the power delivery of the big inline fours.
