Hello! And, my new 2012 with 43 miles + mods (PIC)

says on that link they are by GK Design so not OEM . but still pretty sweet

The box says Yamaha.

Again, I do not really understand whats going on here. If I had to guess they are designed by GK (whoever that is), made (or sent out to be made) by Yamaha, but only for some markets.

All I know is that they say Yamaha on the box, the instructions look oem, and they have "oem" like quality. I like them either way!

My apologies sir. A quick search reveals that GK Design has a company known as GK dynamics that has had their hand in designing several Yamaha products. Some as far back as the 1950's. so i guess they are as OEM as yamaha products can get.

Basically they are a product supplier for Yamaha Europe, just like Graves could be considered a Yamaha supplier for the US. Only difference is I suppose Yamaha EU packages GK stuff as Yamaha, while Graves keeps their name on their stuff.

The benefit of supplier product through the OEM is that Yamaha brings these products in along side development with the bikes, not after, thus a better fit and finish usually. Hence, the term "aftermarket" for everyone else that makes stuff after the bikes debut.

Did you need a resister in-line for those led flashers, or was there one built into the led assembly??? Also did you need a different flasher so the leds flash at the right speed???? Or did you just wire them in place of the old lights??

Good question. I originally wired all four LED turn signals without the included resistors, and used a CustomLED brand flasher relay to slow down the blinks. BUT, I was getting some bleeding through the lighting circuit that lit the LED turn signals slightly when they were off... Plus my signal indicators on the gauge cluster were lit all the time!

After making this thread (http://www.998cc.org/forum/gen-ii-g...question-i-have-not-seen-answered-before.html), I wired the resistors into just the front LED turn signals, and all worked perfectly as seen in the video above.
