Father's Day
Once they leave the nest, Father's Day becomes more reflective. Whilst they're still nesting, you don't have so much time for reflections. My son never shared my love of motorcycles, so we don't have all those old riding stories to share. And it's easy to mope a little about what might have been. But, instead of him ONLY sharing the things I loved, he taught me new things to love. He has loved me, challenged me, refused to let me regress as age comes on, and brought a wonderful daughter-in-law into our lives. He doesn't cut me any slack, demanding that I be both the man who taught him and the man who learns from him. Sometimes to the point of pain, but always with love. Maybe I'll call HIM this Father's Day.
