gone back to standard can

to be honest I find louder can on cars ie,small hatchbacks and subaru's etc yet bikes get all anal over them.my can is not loud it does not interfere with my riding but the cans just make the back end sound nice.anyways as long as the cans are stamped road legal then that should be all well and good..............over in england all cans have to be stamped roadlegal with a code on them dunno about america.ALSO CHOPPERS i would of thought had loud pipes also.

I'll bet if you actually checked 95% of aftermarket cans put on bikes in the U.S. they would say "off-road only" or something to that extent. When I had my Harleys, you practically couldn't leave the dealership withot a "new high performance" muffler and most did not meet EPA specs. I think that has changed quite a bit now but Triumph is kind of following in their footsteps. I bought a set of TORS for my Speedmaster. Then I found out what TORS shood for. Triumph off road. Having a bit of presence isn't a bad thing, but I live about 1/4 mile from a main state highway that leads in and out of town going west and it's amazing how far away I can hear some bikes before they get to my road coming in and how long I hear them leaving. That's the kind of sound that tics people off and causes the local lawmen to check us out.

Damn is fun being outlawed over there too?

Just tell the cops "Loud pipes save lives" They love that one:stirpot:

hahahahaha if you say things like that to the cops over here they'll rip you apart and fine the ass off you : oops:

btw what can did you have on it in to want to take it off? scratch that, just seen it, mivv suono :) nice

What did you have on there for an aftermarket can and are you/did you list it for sale?

I also agree with Lonerider... I kept the stock can and just may got back to it once the TwoBros packing wears out and not worry about the noice ordinance any longer. Even though I have been stopped, cleared and have the State Police contact card, I think they will keep pestering me once in a while just because it is CLEARLY not a stock can. If I get hassled once more when I start this season, I might have a TwoBros fire sale.

*EDIT* And I will take the caps off NOW and paint them black for when it goes back on. :D

Heck how do you know when your can needs to be re-packed. I swear if I had only known that AM cans needed to be re-packed at a certain time, I would have kept my stockers on. Either way I saved it, and when my Two Bros CF needs to be repacked I'll be going back to stock.

They get subtly louder. Before I rashed mine and replaced it, I thought it needed repacking. I bought a kit but it arrived after the can met it's demise. I've replaced it with another Yosh that is much quieter than the one I took off. Yosh recommends something like every 7k miles but it differs from can to can and I suspect based on the individual rider.

You can repack some cans to make them quieter too, if you don't use the manufactures repack kit. I think FMF makes a kit that's pretty quiet so you can keep whatever gains you get from adding a slip on without keeping the noise of adding a slipon.

There are many ways to skin a rabbit.
