Gear Shift Pivot

Went for the Sydney/Central Coast ride last Sunday. Took off up the road and thought WTF I've stuffed the gearbox? Had to return the shifter to the middle with my foot to shift the next time. I was thinking the spring/s had broken or something. Stopped to look and remembered that I had recently re-tightened the foot peg. It had come loose. At the same time, I re greased the pivot. So knowing that the way it's made I could not have put too much tension on it to cause a bind, it must be the grease. Continued down the road and within 15 min all was good. Lesson here if you are going to lube the shifter, do it when the weather is warm and test ride even after small maintenance procedures.
