I just purchased a 2005 FZ1. Great Bike! I would like to inspect/replace the air cleaner. Just wondering what the simplest way is to move the tank out of the way to access the air cleaner? I have the manual but it isn't much help! Thanks!

Remove seat, then side covers. Then the Allen key bolt from front of tank. Tilt up and remove the fuel line and 2 vent hoses. The remove rear mounting bracket and lift of tank.
Air cleaner remove the cover and your done. Actually very easy on this bike.

Pretty Close

Tilt up tank and remove fuel line, 2 vent hoses AND ELECTRIC TANK FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR HARNESS. Unbolt rear tank mount and lift off tank.

THEN REMOVE RUBBER COVER ON AIR BOX before removing air box cover. Rubber cover detaches at side cover rubber grommet attachments and rear of fuel tank.

I know the original post was asking about a 2005 (last of the first gen), and this is in the Gen I section, but I wanted to add a video for the Gen II's also...

It's not a bad video.
