Okay. I love my FZ1, but please someone tell me what I am doing wrong with my exup valve. I cannot manage to get rid of the AWFUL rattle that comes with it no matter how hard I try. I will get it to go away for a couple days and then it’s back. It feels like playing wack a mole, and sounds like nails on a chalkboard for me.

Hello FZ1Logan,

How do you get the rattle to go away for a couple of days? How many miles on your bike?

How many miles on your bike? Have you taken the valve out that hides behind the exup cover in the exhaust?

I’m with Jim…... have you disassembled the unit cleaned the bearing surfaces and reassembled with hi temp copper grease?
if you haven’t done that then definitely use a thread rust penetrant on the screws before trying to loosen them screws, they are weak. Use anti-seeze on them going back together. Are your EXUP cables set appropriately?

Just about 28,000 miles. I’ve gotten it to go away using a zip tie to tighten the slack and/or adjust the lines at the top. I can’t seem to get anything to make the rattle go away currently

Thank you. I will try taking it apart later tonight
