ECU - immobilizer ?
Is the immobilizer function related in any way to the ECU?
Have a chance to pick up a cheap ECU from a 2010 but the seller seems to think it won't work on my 07 due to the immobilizer. Thoughts?

If its a UK spec , you will need the matching key & ignition barrel with the code reader attached,. You may find the wiring loom different if yours does not have the immobilizer fitted,, there are firms that can decode the ecu but at a cost .

I could be wrong, but I think the immobiliser is part of the ignition switch. Hard to tell without a Japanese/Australian wiring diagram to compare with the US one I have. The keys are different though which leads me to think its an add on that's left off the US (and other?) models.

I thought the US ones don't have an immobiliser?

And they don't come with a red key etc
